Old Forge, NY Trail Report 2-12-12

Had a few different groups head North to Raquette Lake yesterday and they all said the same thing. First part of trail 5 past the sand pit is ugly. They dropped down onto 4th lake at Daikers and bypassed 5 all together. By the end of the day yesterday I was getting reports that the trails where showing signs of wear and tare, but that is to be excepted on a Saturday. I saw on the trail cam that the groomers headed out this morning to do their thing. Yesterday Mike B. had the high mileage for the day at 170 miles and I think he also headed north for the day.

Here's Today's Video for.........

  2. Steve, We rolled into town Friday night and saw your No Vacancy sign (good for you). Another great weekend in Old Forge. We put some miles on the sleds and finished off the night at The Steak House for a great meal. The trails were better than expected, better than years with more snow. Some ICY areas so ALWAYS be alert.I know you heard it before, but thanks again for all you do. Your turning into a celebrity in these parts HaHa. Im sure many of us would like to show our appreciation. Whats your beverage and resturant of choice ? Do you bowl or go to the movies ? Please let us know. Thanks Again...

  3. I know he likes to go up to Stillwater from time to time! I think Shotgun Dan should be the first to buy a nice gift certificate, after making by far the dumbest comment on this blog of all time.....I know you apologized Shotgun Dan....and we appreciate it, but I'm afraid the name might stick. Cheers to a new week, and fresh snow is on its way!

  4. Snowing steady most of day in Cuse, hopefully it moves up.

I would head up ASAP. Riding in fine, just not a "winter wonderland' that taint happenning without that blasting dec to mid jan.

  5. We're heading up on Thursday for the weekend. Good or ugly, we haven't been up yet, so we GOTTA get in some riding. Hopefully the snow that is in the forecast for Friday will happen and we can salvage atleast a weekend. Either way, we're gonna have a great time. Joe on Uncas, we might just give you a ring if you're up.

  8. We were up this week with a group from Tues.-Sun. We had a great time riding, like Steve said you can't go everywhere you want but the inner trails are in good shape. Just depends if you want to ride or not. We had 5 sleds all of which are in great shape, slides & carbides are fine & no broken parts. Not a one sled over heated, imagine that!We were very glad we went up.I also wanted to thank the Pink Ribbon Riders for all their hard work & dedication for hope to CURE Breast Cancer. As a survivor I really appreciate all they do. I hope to join in their run next year. It was a huge turn out & fun to see the decorated sleds & trailers. Does anyone know how much they raised this year?
Have a good day everyone & THINK SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
