Happy New Years Eve !

The video today is a little longer than most days and it pretty much covers everything that has been going on here in the north.  Conditions still aren't anything to talk about and I'm hoping that Saturday's weather is nice to us.  We can't afford to have too much R or we will be starting all over again.

Let's see who is paying attention to my report and what did I screw up?

Sunny but cold...........

We had bright sun on Tuesday, but the temps didn't warm up very much.  So the sun didn't have to much effect on melting the limited snow we do have.  In the video I said Thursday was going to be ugly and I should have said Saturday.  The lake effect blast Monday night gave us a inch, maybe two tops.  Not much else to report on for the day.

Today's video.......

Keep it coming !

It's 9:15pm and we have a good blast of lake effect coming off of the lake.  Not sure how long it will last.  But at this point, I'll take what ever we can get.  Just looked at the forecast and they are saying 1 to 3.

Another quiet one.............

Not much going on around town.  A few times today, I heard some sleds going down the back street.  This must be a case of beauty is in the eye of the beholder and they must think conditions are OK.  But in my eye, it's not to pretty.  But I'm sure the dealers will be selling a few wear items to them.  We'll be making some ice on Tuesday with the temps they are calling for.

Will We?

The lake effect was north of us most of the day and it is shifting south this evening.  I'm just hoping it doesn't shift to fast and we get more than just a few inches from it.   Nothing much else to report and as the town report stayed, we are pretty much starting all over again.

Hope everyone have a Great Christmas and you got what you wanted from Santa.

To One and All...............

I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!  I hope you're safe, healthy and enjoying the day with close family.  I'm going to be enjoying the day with my two daughters and their families.  This Christmas is extra special for me, as my youngest daughter Chelsea and her family, moved back to town this year and she is helping me run the motel.

Each year I try to do something special for Christmas.  Be it a special video, a new camera or change something.  Well this year isn't any different and I'm sure everyone is going to enjoy it.  I was thinking about putting up the trail cam and when I did it.  Can you believe it, it was Christmas 2009 when I fired that one up.  I'm sure you've noticed that it's on and off all the time.  There is still an internet problem and I'm working on getting it fixed.

I took video over the last few days for a post.  But let's face it, it would just be depressing to say the least.  So here's a video from Christmas 2016 of Chelsea and I out riding when the snow was deep and the riding was good.  Hope it reminds you of one of your trips to the area and the fun you had.

Got Cold.........

We just don't have the snow to go with it.  Long range forecast is good except for Christmas Eve.  But that could change as it's four days away.  Not much else to report or show you at this time.  Hope everyone is safe  and ready for Santa.

Better than nothing......

We didn't get a huge amount from the storm, like some did.  But I'll take what ever you want to send our way.  You could also tell that we where on the cold side of the storm, as the snow we got was dry.  The cam in Stillwater is showing even less snow than us.  So that just backs up that we where just on the edge of it all.

We're white.............

But will it still be here after the warm weather over the upcoming weekend.  Last few days have been very cold and to top it off, it was a damp cold.  One of those days, that you just want to stay in the house.  Not much else to report for now.  Hope everyone has been safe and healthy.

What can I say...........

It snowed !  So I wanted to share it with everyone.  It does look like we'll be in the 70's this upcoming week.  So spring may be here to stay.  But now we'll have to deal with the black flies.  Which I'm sure are going to be hot and heavy since they really haven't been seen much of as of yet.  See Ya got cut off on the end....sorry.

It's April.......

3pm Thursday afternoon and guess what.  We have snow in the air.  It isn't sticking, but it's snowing and when the cold front moved in the wind was blowing pretty good.  It's quiet now with just flurries in the air.  So I looked at the forecast and here is what I found.

Winter Weather Advisory

Hoping to.........

If everything falls in to place,  I'm hoping to have this live feed on the top of McCauley running all the time soon.  It's been up and running for over a week and it all seems to be working OK.  It's the PTZ camera so it moves every 5 min.

Thursday, March 26, 2020

Returned for a day...........

Tuesday morning we woke up to some fresh snow and it turned the area back into a winter wonder land for the day.  I've been playing with some thoughts of an upgrade to the PTZ camera on top of McCauley Mountain.  With the mountain being shut down for the season.   I'm able to do some testing, with what I'm hoping to make a permanent thing.  You can check it out here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaTL1U0ZtKc

Note the camera is still on a 5 minute schedule to move to different locations and there isn't much to see at this time.  But think how nice it will be to watch the boats on the lake in the summer, people riding the chair lift and seeing the headlights of sleds going through the woods in the winter at night.

Faster than I thought............

The last few days we really took a hit and the snow is going faster than I thought it would.  The new snow from the last few weeks is gone and we are down to the old snow.  The stuff that has been thawed and refrozen many times and is pretty muck ice pellets, with the ice base under that.   I had hopes of getting in that last ride and bragging rights that I did.  But after looking at the 10 day forecast I don't think it's going to be happening.

SnoFest Weekend 2020

Looks like the end of the season may be sooner than we thought, with the way the forecast is looking.  I was hoping to get in one more ride before I put them away for the season.  Who knows, maybe we'll get one more blast before they swing the gates closed.  Thanks to everyone for watching this season again.

Today's video...……...

Day late.........

Here's a short video of what it was looking like on Friday.  Ran out of hours yesterday with it being Friday and Snofest weekend.

Today's video...…...

Could it be............

After looking at the 10 day forecast, it makes you wonder if this is going to be the last weekend of riding for the season.  I'm  sure we'll see some more snow before the 1st of April.  But will it be enough to entice people to head to the north country to go riding?  The groomers have been out working the trails and we are into spring time conditions.  So road riding is out of the question, but you'll find some of the best trail conditions of the season.

Today's video...………..

Thursday, March 5, 2020

How's that go?

There's a saying here in Old Forge.  If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will change.  Well that sure was the case this morning.  We picked up  3 to 4 inches in a very short time, enough to change the conditions and set things up for SnoFest this weekend.  Got some time this afternoon and went to the top of McCauley to reset the trail cam.  But I still wasn't able to get the PTZ working.  Seems the last power outage did something in on it.

We almost..........

The day was going good, the sun first thing this morning didn't last long and we saw clouds most of the day.  We saw a few passing light R events during the day.  But around 6pm we starting seeing some R and with it was wind.  At midnight the R is over and next it looks like winter will return.   We did lose some snow in the front yard today, but it's still just shy of a foot on the snow stick.

Today's video...……..

Tuesday, March 3, 2020

Don't want to be...........

Not to be mister downer, but we are into March and the long range forecast isn't looking all that great for next week.  So if you have any thoughts of getting in that one last ride you better do it soon.  We'll have snow around for some time.  But we're starting to see the warm sunny days and the freeze down at nights.  So it won't be long before we have a lot of useless snow out there.

Saturday on Sunday............

Here's the video from Saturday. Ran out of hours and had a computer problem. Today's video...….

Saturday, February 29, 2020

Foot Plus.............

We got well over a foot from start to finish and that's enough for now.  Let the groomers get that worked in and smoothed out.  The cold temps over the next few days should help dry out the wet snow we got on Thursday.  Because that stuff is still loaded with a lot of water and isn't any fun at all to shovel.  I could tell the condition are really good today, because I didn't have one person come into the office, to just shoot the breeze.

Today's Video...………..

Friday, February 28, 2020

Got Snow...............

First a storm front and then lake effect is what we saw today.  The snow stick was at one foot last night and tonight it is just shy of two feet.  Then figure in that we are forecasted to get lake effect till 5pm Friday.  So we should be well over the two foot mark when it is all said and done.  The snow this afternoon was the light fluffy stuff so it's settling under it's own weight.  So if it was measured the proper way,  I'd saw we have seen at least  a foot so far.

Today's Video...………….

It's Back.............

So here's what has happened over the last 24 hours. Wednesday morning we woke up to warmth and some light drizzle on and off during the morning. Nothing to worry about and it seemed to be limited on where it hit. The rest of the day was pretty quiet and there was a hand full of people out riding. I did my falling asleep thing, when watching TV last night and woke up at 5:30am to see it snowing. So here is a video of what took place yesterday and what it is looking like first thing Thursday morning. I'll have more for you later, as the day goes on and what we are getting.

10:00am update.  We have gotten 4 to 5 so far and this is from the storm front that is headed to the north east.  Winds are starting to line up and lake effect is setting up on the western lakes now.  So it won't be long before we start seeing the lake effect bands setting up here.

Noon Update:  Snow from the storm front has pretty much ended and the winds are starting to pick up from the west.   The snow from the storm was good wet stuff that is packing down very nice.  So it shouldn't be long before the lake effect machine starts to kick in.

Tony's getting his wish..........

Lake Effect Snow Warning ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST THURSDAY... ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THURSDAY TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT... For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 24 inches for areas near and along Route 28 across the western Adirondacks. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

Two in One.........

Today's video has Monday and Tuesday in it.  We had sun Monday and light R this morning.  Of the two days I think the sun Monday did more harm the R Tuesday morning.  Winter warning up for our area and lake effect is in it.  It's going to interesting to see who gets what.  Because 20 miles west of us they are saying possible of 2 to 3 feet.  Biggest thing is cold is going to return with some snow to bring things back around for another weekend of riding.

Today's Video......…..

Monday, February 24, 2020

Changed again.............

The forecast keeps changing for Tuesday. But I'll take the last one I just saw, cloudy all day and just warm temps. It does look like lake effect will be setting up after some R on Wednesday with 5 to 11 in the forecast. Then it's back to winter weather for the weekend.

 Today's Video...…………

Sunday, February 23, 2020

Keeps changing...........

Forecast keeps changing for the beginning of the week.  So all we can do is hope that we don't see to much R. With the cold temps we've had over the last few days we can take a little warmth.  Because everything is frozen down solid right now.  If you go into the hourly forecast for each day.  It looks like it could be one of those get some snow and then loose some each day and at the end it all equals out.

Cole's Day...........

Mister Cole is in town this weekend and he spent the day riding with his Dad.  Conditions are good and one room did 250 miles yesterday.  Looks like the temps will keep things frozen down for this weekend and some snow on Saturday.  The beginning of next week doesn't look all that great, but it's to far off to count on it happening just yet.  Hope you enjoy today's video, it made me smile a few times.

Held our own............

When it was all said and done we didn't lose any snow from Tuesday's R.  Because as I said, we got 4 to 5 before the change over, so we really gained some.  It did make it a little hard going first thing this morning, because it did ice over the snow.  But after people riding on it and the groomers hitting the trails it wasn't long before things where broken up.  Not much else to report, besides we're getting to that time of the year when you can't always wait for it to get better.

As promised here is Monday's Video.  Headed over to Brantingham for some eats and had a nice ride getting there.  As almost always, the cut off trail to Brantingham was anything to talk about.  But besides that all was pretty good. By the time you're reading this the snow will have started for Tuesday and we'll have to see how it all turns out.  Cross your fingers we don't see to much R in the afternoon before it changes back to snow.

Anyone home?

With the amount of sleds I saw across the street getting gas and on the webcams today.  It does make me wonder if anyone was left at home today.  So for those of you that couldn't make it to the north country for some riding.  I made this video a little longer so you could at least feel like you where in on the holiday weekend.

Not much............

Not much to report today.  Riding is good, saw some new snow this morning and everyone is having a great time riding.  It's going to be a crazy weekend, so take your time and ride safe.

Today's video...……….

Wednesday, February 12, 2020

You can tell..........

When you have guests coming into the office late afternoon, you can almost guess how the trails are.  But when you don't see them at all, you just know the riding has to be great.  Well that's how it's been the last few days.  I see everyone in the morning getting ready.  But after that I don't see them till the next morning.

Today's video......……...

Tuesday, February 11, 2020

By the calls.............

I'm guessing we're going to see even more people than we did last weekend, by the number of calls I have gotten looking for rooms.  Forecast is looking good and the cold temps will be a huge help in keeping the trail conditions better longer.  Please remember it's a holiday weekend and there will be a lot of families and young riders out enjoying the sport.  So stay right and keep the speed under control.  Take my word on this.  It only takes a split second to get out of control and the out come can get ugly even faster.

Today's Video...……..

Back On.............

Reset the last of the cams today.  Riding conditions are good and things are starting to firm up some. The groomers are out working the new snow and getting thing back into shape after a crazy weekend.

More coming..........

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST
MONDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6
inches, with locally up to 8 inches across the western
Adirondacks.

At midnight is has started, so we'll have to see what we have in the morning.  I'm headed to the mountain in hopes of getting the trail and top cam back online.  For some reason I'm not able to connect to the top system after the voltage spikes and flickers we had few days ago.

Just got back from the mountain.  I'm sorry to say, Dave the groomer wasn't doing his thing, so I wasn't able to get a ride to the top.  I'll get it back online ASAP.

Still out..............

For those of you wondering why some of the webcams are off line.  Frontier is has a problem with the internet connection and they are working on repairing it.  It also means that the phones are down also.  So if you have been trying to call the area and can't get through, that is why.

Today's video...……..

Saturday, February 8, 2020

We got it now.............

Snow stick started out at the one foot mark in the morning and is at the two foot mark now.  What else needs to be said.

Saturday morning update:  I knew there was something else I wanted to post and forgot.  Guess that's what happens when you post in the wee hours of the morning.  Most of the cams are down, because of a problem with Frontier's phone lines.

Today's Video...………..

Thursday, February 6, 2020

All depends..........

Here in Old Forge, we saw just a freezing drizzle today.  But some areas did have some passing R and some of the guests got caught in it.  Others lucked out and only saw the drizzle.  It didn't hurt the new snow we got overnight and it will be freezing down over the next few days with the temps that are headed our way.

Today's Video...……...

Cross your fingers.................

With as many years as I have watched storms come and go, I can tell you this for sure.  It's doesn't mean anything till it's on the ground and keep your fingers crossed we stay on the good/snowy side of this storm.  With the temps I'm seeing it should be a good snow that will pack down very nice.

Update:  It's 1am and the snow has started.
Update:  7:30am this morning (Thur)  We woke up to 4 to 6  inches of new white stuff.

Today's Video...……….

Did it again........

Went out riding last night and started to do the report when we got back.  Well the next thing I knew was I had a stiff neck and it was time for bed.  So here's Tuesday's video on Wednesday morning.  I'll have today's later on.

Not perfect...........

Conditions aren't perfect, but it sure is rideable.  More than one person has said the same thing, it's better than what I have at home, nothing.  It's been cloudy the last few days and we have seen a heavy dusting the last two mornings, which has helped out some.  Not much else to report as the weather has been quiet.

Today's video...……….

Saturday, February 1, 2020

Got a little.........

First thing this morning it was on the warm side, high 20's.  But around noon it started to drop and we are back into the teens now.  With the traffic we have in town this weekend, the colder, the better to hold things together.  Radar is showing some snow off to our west and it's headed our way.  So cross your fingers we see a few inches overnight.

Could it be.........

Forecast is looking really good for next week.  Could it be, that next week will be the best week of the season.  Only time will tell, but everyone that was here this week seemed  to have a good time.  The cold temps over the last few days have really helped bring things back around.

It's returned.........

The cold has returned and things are getting back to normal.  It may not be perfect, but there is no question, it is rideable.  Now that paths are being ridden on the lakes, it will also take some of the traffic off of the trails.  Which will help the groomers keep the trails in better shape.

Please not: Riding lake ice is not safe.  It is important to note that I never recommend riding on lakes or ponds.

Today's Video...……..

Wrong base...........

In the video I said the town report is up to a 6 inch base, I should of said 4 inch.  Biggest thing we really need now, is to see some COLD.  There is material/snow out there.  But the problem is it's soft and needs to freeze back down.  The groomers went out today, doing there best with what they have to work with.  They are also putting things back into place for when the cold does return.  Because when this stuff freezes back down it's going to be rock hard, with all the water there is in it.

Today's Video...……...

Sunday, January 26, 2020

It sure did stick.....

The snow we saw on Saturday was very wet and it stuck to everything.  If Sunday turns out to be a sunny day it will be breath taking.  But don't hold your breath for it, because it looks like cold and snow most of the day.  As for trail conditions, things are soft from the warm weather and it looks like a slow freeze down.  As temp are below freezing, but not down in the teens for a quick freeze.

Today's video...……..

Friday, January 24, 2020

Time will tell...............

Forecast still isn't looking all that great for Saturday.  So cross your fingers the R is limited and we don't see to much warmth or wind with it.  It's one thing to have these warm ups, we have them just about every year.  But having them come on the weekend really makes it hard to figure out what to do.  Today we got up to 40, but it was short lived.  Tonight we are back below freezing and things are firming back up.

Today's Video...…….

Tastes like chicken...........

Went out for a ride tonight and had dinner at Stillwater.  Put on a little over 60 miles and found conditions overall to be pretty good, for the limited snow the groomers have to work with.  Now we just have to wait and see how it's all going to turn out over the next few days with this next weather system coming our way.

Today's Video...………...

Wednesday, January 22, 2020

All depends on what...............

Overall I would say everyone is having a good week of riding.  Yes it could be better and you can find some ugly out there.  But there is a whole lot more of good than there is of ugly, that is for sure.  I think everyone is putting on a hundred plus miles just about every day.

Today's Video...………..

Guess I got carried away............

I was cleaning out the file that I keep the videos in this morning and it appears I got carried away with my clicks.  Because I deleted yesterdays videos and they got mixed in with hundreds of others in the recycle bin.  I do have this time lapse from yesterday over on the river.  Wes has the cam out now and I'll have a video for today later on.

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

I started my post for Monday.  But I never finished it before I did the chair thing again.  So here's Monday's post and I'll be doing another one later today when Wes gets back.

Couldn't ask for...............

The temps for the beginning of this upcoming week are just about perfect in my book.  Highs in the 20's and lows well below freezing at night to frim things up.  The lack of traffic the last few days sure changed today.  As you'll see in the video, you would almost think it was a Saturday at Stillwater.  I'm really starting to think there is something to murphy's law.  The cams will run months on end with no problem.  But as soon as it's that time of the year, when everyone is looking they seem to give me problems.

Today's Video...……….

Saturday, January 18, 2020

I like what I'm seeing.........

It looks like we have some more of the storm to come yet.  But I like what I'm seeing off to the west.  It looks like lake effect bands are starting to set up on the western lakes.  So a nice one two punch would be OK by me.

Slow going for now..........

It's been snowing all afternoon and it's adding up slowly.  Forecast is calling for it to snow till 7pm Sunday.  If it does, I'm putting us at about 8 to 10 inches at the rate it's been snowing so far.  But it does look like it going to increase over night.  So we'll have to see  what we wake up to in the morning.  Should be a good week of riding if you're able to get away.

Today's Video...………..

The snow has started...........

It's 1pm and at this point it's snowing hard enough to say it's snowing.  There was snow in the air around noon, but not enough to say it was snowing.

We can only hope.....

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 7 to
17 inches possible, highest south of Route 28.

* WHERE...Northern Herkimer and Hamilton Counties.

* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

Here's my take............

For those of you that have been watching the blog for years, you'll know what I mean.  Right now it's cube steak and it looks like we may just end the holiday weekend with NY strip.  All depends on what we get from the next round of snow.

On another note.  I replaced the system on top of McCauley with my back up on Wednesday.  I'm sure you have seen the top and trail cams are out this morning.  Not sure why it went down and I'll do my best to get it back up before the snow starts to fly.

It's a start...........

The groomers went out packing the trails down and with the below zero temps tonight.  It should be the beginning of building the base back up.  Only saw like six sleds across the street getting gas today.  What was a shocker was seeing three sleds coming off of the trails last night, at the end of North Street.  When they went past me, all I could smell was high fax.  Forecast is still looking good for snow late Saturday and into Sunday.  Doesn't do much for this weekend, but looks like it should be a good week of riding coming up.

Today's Video...…….

It's snowing..........

Woke up to snow this morning and at 7:30 we have 3 inches so far.  It's a good wet snow that is packing down when you step on it.  How much will we get is the thousand dollar question.  But we already got the high side of what the forecast was calling for and it looks like it's going to snow into the afternoon.  I also noticed on the radar that the western great lakes are starting to fire up some lake effect bands.  Who knows maybe we'll see some also.  I'll keep you posted.

1pm update:  Just took the yard stick out and we have between 4 and 5.  Looks like lake effect bands are starting to grow.  Crossing my fingers that we something from them.

It's a start..........

Local news showed us in the 4 to 6 range and national weather just posted this.  Looking at the cam out front it doesn't look all that great.  But if you look at the trail cam, you'll see there is still a good amount in the woods.  Like always time will tell.

I wise............

After looking at the forecast I wish we could split the forecast in the middle.  They are calling for snow with temps in the 20's and 30's and then the temp dropping way down.  It would be nice if we could get some of the cold first and freeze everything down.  Then the snow would add up much faster and not be melting in the wet spots.  But at this point, anything we get will be better than what we have.

Some in the air............

There's light snow in the air tonight off the lake.  Nothing that's going to add up to anything.  But at least it's cold again and snowing.  Nothing much else to report.  I'm sure we're all doing the same thing.  Looking at the forecast every 10 minutes, hoping it has changed and there is more snow predicted.  But it doesn't look like anything till the end of the week.

You may not want to...............

I'll warn you right now, you may just want to keep looking at the last two videos and not even look at this one, because it isn't pretty!  We did have wind today and that can also eat the snow, almost as fast as R can.  Not much else to report and cross your fingers things turn around here pretty soon.

So far so good...........

The R that has headed our way today, has fallen apart for the most part before it got here.  But it looks like that may start to change later tonight.  We can only hope we dodge most of it.  Those that rolled the dice and stayed around today.   Got some seat time in and I haven't had one person say they are sorry they stuck it out.  Had a good ride last night and put on just short of 70 miles between 6 and 11.  With a stop at Stillwater,  I was the pig of the group and had a nice prime rib dinner.

Today's Video...………...

Sorry...................

I went out riding last night and started working on putting together a video when I got back at 11pm.  Well the next thing I knew,  I was waking up in the office chair and it was 1:30am.  So I figured I'd just go into bed and ask for forgiveness today for not posting.  I'll post later on about how my ride was and where Wes went for the day.  On the bright side, the number came down some on how much R we may see.

It says it all.............

Lake effect all morning and into the afternoon.  Then we started to see the sun come out, which made for a picture perfect day of riding.  Now all we can hope for is we don't take to hard of a hit this weekend.  Because it doesn't get much better than it is right now and the video says it all.

Today's Video...………..

Even getting better............

We all ready got half a foot this morning and looks like more to come.  I'll keep you posted.

Best so far...........

The conditions we have right now are the best it has been this season.  The below zero temps and cold over the next few days will help hold things together longer, if we do see the R over the weekend.  I commented a few days ago about the snow turning to concrete when the cold returned.  Well it sure did and it showed it's face when I was plowing yesterday.  I almost slide out into 28 a few times and you couldn't push all the much snow without spinning the tires.  Sled traffic was up today and I'm guessing the next few days will be busy also.

Today's Video...……..

One is gone...........

I changed the lights on the snow stick at the pool fence.  The one foot mark is now green, two is red, three is green and four is red again.  The one foot mark is gone and I'm hoping by the end of this lake effect event two will be gone also.  Looks like about three more inches to go for that to happen.  Conditions are at the best they have been this season so far.  The question is, will we see them go down the tube over the weekend.

So far so good..........

We woke up to snow this morning.  If it keeps snowing like this till Tuesday morning, the snow stick will be pushing the two foot mark.  Did I just hear someone cough?

Watch live here:   http://www.christysmotel.com/live/

The system on top of McCauley didn't reset this morning after the power outage, as I had hoped.  So I'll do my best to get up there today to get it and the trail cam back on line.

Hoping this one comes true..........

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM MONDAY TO 4 AM EST TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches.
* WHERE...Northern Herkimer County.
* WHEN...From 4 AM Monday to 4 AM EST Tuesday.

There was some people in town this weekend, but nothing like it should be.  I'm sure the carbides took a beating.  But what's better, getting some seat time or couch time?  The temps have dropped back into the teens and things are freezing back down.  So if we do get the 3 to 6, things should be in pretty good shape.  Wes is in town, so I should have some video of the trails for you on Monday.

Not what I was hoping for...............

We saw snow most of the day, but it really didn't add up to all that much.  Traffic was very light, but I think most had a good time even with the limited riding conditions.  The odds are, we will see winter weather this up coming week.  As Wes and Brenda are coming to town and they almost always seem to bring winter weather with them.  Besides that there isn't much to report.  Temps are going to drop tonight and will start freezing things back down.

Today's Video...…...

It's started.............

At 10am the snow has started to come down at a good rate.  Let's cross our fingers and dance like never before that it snows all day like this.   More later...…….

Friday, January 3, 2020

Cross your fingers.............

Forecast is looking very good for the up coming week.  Now let's just hope it all comes true and we wake up Saturday morning to snow.  As we really do need to see some new snow and also have the cold return.  As things did get very soft today with the warm temps.  But at least we didn't see any R or fog.  One thing is for sure.  As wet as the snow is now, it's going to freeze up like concrete when the cold returns.

A Few............

There was a few sleds running around town today with the new snow we got over night.  But nothing like it should be.  Just looked at the forecast and it's looking  better than earlier today.  They increased the amount of snow for Saturday and then cold the rest of the week.  Going to be a hard one to call for this weekend.  If we don't see to much R on Friday and then snow on Saturday, who knows we may get some riding in just yet.

Today's Video...………..

Happy New Year !

Lake effect has been in the area and we have gotten a half a foot so far.  Calling for it to snow till 9pm.  If lake effect band stays in the area we could see another 4 to 6 before it's over.  I'll keep you posted.
