Half way...............

Pretty sad to say the season is half over and we only had about 10 days of riding.  Let's hope the last half is better than the first half.  Dave has a new camera and he brought me lots of video to work with.  11pm local forecast is calling for 2 to 5" of lake effect on Wednesday for Old Forge.

Today's video............

What are you looking for?

If you're looking for perfect conditions, you better stay home.  But if you're OK with rideable, then you should be happy with what we got.  Doesn't look like it's going to be melting this week and forecast looks like we may see some light snow a few days.

Warm part is over.................

We hit a high of 36 on Sunday morning and it was snowing.  That is behind us now and the temp is forecasted to drop all week to below zero temps by the end of the week.  There is limited snow in the forecast, but with the temps we'll have, lake effect can't be ruled out.

Making up for time lost..............

You'll see in the video that a lot of people are trying to make up for lost seat time this weekend.  Didn't have many people in the office today. But the few I did see seemed happy with the conditions.  Looks like a shot of snow Sunday, which will be a big help for the groomers.  They'll have something to work with after the weekend.

Here's a first.........

Someone missed the bridge at the end of North Street and put their sled in the river.  One good thing about doing it there.  They won't have to worry about it freezing over and not being able to get to it.

Today's Video..................

Trail Closed

I just got a phone call from the trail foreman about the cut off trail between trail 1 and the Brantingham trail. It is being closed by the DEC today.  My understanding for the closure is as follows.  There is a one mile section that was being shared by the logging company and snowmobilers.  This morning there was two incidents between logging trucks and snowmobiles.  More than that I don't know.  My guess would be like the old saying.  A few wrecked it for all.

Christmas replay..............

Not a lot, but enough to turn things around, that there will be riding this weekend.  The cold temps on Thursday night will freeze things down and help the groomers do their thing.  The video pretty much tells it all.  What's incorrect in the video?

Not yet............

I'd give it 2 to 3 inches since it started snowing this morning.  We have to 7pm Thursday to get to the 5 to 9 they are predicting.  But wait, I just looked at the warning again and at 9:38pm they dropped it to 1 to 3 additional.  Well isn't that just special.  There is one good thing, it is good packing snow.

Today's Video..................

Why can't it?

Why do the snow totals always become less as the day gets closer.  Wouldn't it be nice for once that they increased.

Winter Storm Watch

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH

one tenth of an inch possible. Winds could gust as high as 35

Could it be?

Down to one day from what could be the game changer for the riding conditions.  We've seen it many times before, the long range forecast is calling for good snow and as it gets closer it goes away.  The local forecast is looking even better than what we're seeing on the internet.  Cross your fingers and check the oil.  It looks like it's finally going to be time to go riding.

It started snowing last night and I'm not sure what time it ended.  Took the yard stick out front and I'd give it 2 to 3 inches.  This was posted this morning.

It's Quiet!

Take note of how quiet it is when I do the scan of the parking lot on Saturday morning.  I walked over to get milk this morning and I didn't even have to wait to cross the street.

One Day.............

Figured I'd post what went on today weather wish.  Because, so far, we sure haven't seen anything close to what was predicted.  Maybe we'll get the 2 to 5 by 1pm Friday.  I'm posting this at 11pm.  So let's hope by the time most of you are reading this, it will be snowing.

Today's Video...........

What will we get?

Watched the local forecast at 11 last night.  They are also calling for us to see 2 to 5, the same as the national weather service forecast.  But the question is, will we see all snow or are we going to get some R also.  As you can see in the image below, it's not all snow below us and it is in the upper 20's as I'm posting this.  Everything is frozen down solid, even the liquid from yesterday morning is frozen over in the parking lot.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
up to 2 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of
an inch. The highest snowfall totals will occurr across the
Adirondacks and Lake George region.

* WHERE...The central and western Mohawk Valley, the western and
southern Adirondacks, and the Lake George Saratoga Region in
eastern New York.

Another one..............

It looks like another weekend is going to be a no ride weekend.   Forecast is calling for snow.  But nothing that is going to turn it around in one day.  So now we are shotting for next weeknd that maybe we'll have enough snow to ride.

Saw one sled.............

Cross your fingers that the 10 day forecast comes true.  It may not be great conditions, but we'll be able to ride.  The ground is frozen, so there won't be any melting when it does start to snow.

This was sent to me by email..........

It's not climate change it is the AMO and all the other natural oceanic and atmospheric oscillations.  We have hopefully peaked from the warm side of the AMO, and the cold phase is coming. Then it is back to the winters of the 70's.

Here's a first................

The Town of Webb Snowmobile Trail System has EXTREMELY MARGINAL conditions, with no base layer and a very thin cover of wet snow. Heavy, steady rain changed to snow this morning, but the ground is not frozen. The access gate at the North Street Bridge is closed, due to people getting motor vehicles stuck on the trails. Grooming is suspended.

And we wait.................

I did see some guys fueling up their sleds this morning, they had them in a trailer.  Maybe they did the 4th lake riding.

Closing in.............

We're closing in on last year's date till we got ridable snow in January. Hate to say it, but it looks like we'll be waiting even longer this year.

Today's Video.............

It's almost.............

We got a dusting overnight and it's almost white again.  Don't look to close, because you can still see the grass in the front yard.  Cold temps have returned, but that's about all.  No real snow in the forecast that will turn things around.

Something new............

At the end of today's video you'll see there's something new in town.  I just hope you or someone you know never has to use it.  Sorry about the buzz in the video today again.  I thought for sure I figured out what was causing it.  But I guess I didn't because it's back again.

No new snow and nothing to really report on.

It sure is..............

There was a good amount of people around town yesterday and last night.  But boy did it get quiet around town this afternoon and tonight.   You would think it was November or April, not the 1st of January.  Light snow in the air this evening, but nothing to talk about.  Hope everyone had a Safe and Happy New Year!  Thanks to everyone for sending well wishes my way.
