Foot Plus.............

We got well over a foot from start to finish and that's enough for now.  Let the groomers get that worked in and smoothed out.  The cold temps over the next few days should help dry out the wet snow we got on Thursday.  Because that stuff is still loaded with a lot of water and isn't any fun at all to shovel.  I could tell the condition are really good today, because I didn't have one person come into the office, to just shoot the breeze.

Got Snow...............

First a storm front and then lake effect is what we saw today.  The snow stick was at one foot last night and tonight it is just shy of two feet.  Then figure in that we are forecasted to get lake effect till 5pm Friday.  So we should be well over the two foot mark when it is all said and done.  The snow this afternoon was the light fluffy stuff so it's settling under it's own weight.  So if it was measured the proper way,  I'd saw we have seen at least  a foot so far.

It's Back.............

So here's what has happened over the last 24 hours. Wednesday morning we woke up to warmth and some light drizzle on and off during the morning. Nothing to worry about and it seemed to be limited on where it hit. The rest of the day was pretty quiet and there was a hand full of people out riding. I did my falling asleep thing, when watching TV last night and woke up at 5:30am to see it snowing. So here is a video of what took place yesterday and what it is looking like first thing Thursday morning. I'll have more for you later, as the day goes on and what we are getting.

10:00am update.  We have gotten 4 to 5 so far and this is from the storm front that is headed to the north east.  Winds are starting to line up and lake effect is setting up on the western lakes now.  So it won't be long before we start seeing the lake effect bands setting up here.

Noon Update:  Snow from the storm front has pretty much ended and the winds are starting to pick up from the west.   The snow from the storm was good wet stuff that is packing down very nice.  So it shouldn't be long before the lake effect machine starts to kick in.

Tony's getting his wish..........

Lake Effect Snow Warning ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST THURSDAY... ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THURSDAY TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT... For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 24 inches for areas near and along Route 28 across the western Adirondacks. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

Two in One.........

Today's video has Monday and Tuesday in it.  We had sun Monday and light R this morning.  Of the two days I think the sun Monday did more harm the R Tuesday morning.  Winter warning up for our area and lake effect is in it.  It's going to interesting to see who gets what.  Because 20 miles west of us they are saying possible of 2 to 3 feet.  Biggest thing is cold is going to return with some snow to bring things back around for another weekend of riding.

Changed again.............

The forecast keeps changing for Tuesday. But I'll take the last one I just saw, cloudy all day and just warm temps. It does look like lake effect will be setting up after some R on Wednesday with 5 to 11 in the forecast. Then it's back to winter weather for the weekend.

Keeps changing...........

Forecast keeps changing for the beginning of the week.  So all we can do is hope that we don't see to much R. With the cold temps we've had over the last few days we can take a little warmth.  Because everything is frozen down solid right now.  If you go into the hourly forecast for each day.  It looks like it could be one of those get some snow and then loose some each day and at the end it all equals out.

Room Open

Have a room open for Friday and Saturday night with two doubles.

Cole's Day...........

Mister Cole is in town this weekend and he spent the day riding with his Dad.  Conditions are good and one room did 250 miles yesterday.  Looks like the temps will keep things frozen down for this weekend and some snow on Saturday.  The beginning of next week doesn't look all that great, but it's to far off to count on it happening just yet.  Hope you enjoy today's video, it made me smile a few times.

Held our own............

When it was all said and done we didn't lose any snow from Tuesday's R.  Because as I said, we got 4 to 5 before the change over, so we really gained some.  It did make it a little hard going first thing this morning, because it did ice over the snow.  But after people riding on it and the groomers hitting the trails it wasn't long before things where broken up.  Not much else to report, besides we're getting to that time of the year when you can't always wait for it to get better.

Free Weekend 2020

March 14th and 15th will be a free snowmobiling weekend for all out-of-state and Canadian snowmobilers.

Almost on track............

As promised here is Monday's Video.  Headed over to Brantingham for some eats and had a nice ride getting there.  As almost always, the cut off trail to Brantingham was anything to talk about.  But besides that all was pretty good. By the time you're reading this the snow will have started for Tuesday and we'll have to see how it all turns out.  Cross your fingers we don't see to much R in the afternoon before it changes back to snow.

Anyone home?

With the amount of sleds I saw across the street getting gas and on the webcams today.  It does make me wonder if anyone was left at home today.  So for those of you that couldn't make it to the north country for some riding.  I made this video a little longer so you could at least feel like you where in on the holiday weekend.

Not much............

Not much to report today.  Riding is good, saw some new snow this morning and everyone is having a great time riding.  It's going to be a crazy weekend, so take your time and ride safe.

You can tell..........

When you have guests coming into the office late afternoon, you can almost guess how the trails are.  But when you don't see them at all, you just know the riding has to be great.  Well that's how it's been the last few days.  I see everyone in the morning getting ready.  But after that I don't see them till the next morning.

By the calls.............

I'm guessing we're going to see even more people than we did last weekend, by the number of calls I have gotten looking for rooms.  Forecast is looking good and the cold temps will be a huge help in keeping the trail conditions better longer.  Please remember it's a holiday weekend and there will be a lot of families and young riders out enjoying the sport.  So stay right and keep the speed under control.  Take my word on this.  It only takes a split second to get out of control and the out come can get ugly even faster.

Today's Video...……..

Back On.............

Reset the last of the cams today.  Riding conditions are good and things are starting to firm up some. The groomers are out working the new snow and getting thing back into shape after a crazy weekend.

More coming..........

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST
MONDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6
inches, with locally up to 8 inches across the western
Adirondacks.

At midnight is has started, so we'll have to see what we have in the morning.  I'm headed to the mountain in hopes of getting the trail and top cam back online.  For some reason I'm not able to connect to the top system after the voltage spikes and flickers we had few days ago.

Just got back from the mountain.  I'm sorry to say, Dave the groomer wasn't doing his thing, so I wasn't able to get a ride to the top.  I'll get it back online ASAP.

Still out..............

For those of you wondering why some of the webcams are off line.  Frontier is has a problem with the internet connection and they are working on repairing it.  It also means that the phones are down also.  So if you have been trying to call the area and can't get through, that is why.

We got it now.............

Snow stick started out at the one foot mark in the morning and is at the two foot mark now.  What else needs to be said.

Saturday morning update:  I knew there was something else I wanted to post and forgot.  Guess that's what happens when you post in the wee hours of the morning.  Most of the cams are down, because of a problem with Frontier's phone lines.

All depends..........

Here in Old Forge, we saw just a freezing drizzle today.  But some areas did have some passing R and some of the guests got caught in it.  Others lucked out and only saw the drizzle.  It didn't hurt the new snow we got overnight and it will be freezing down over the next few days with the temps that are headed our way.

Cross your fingers.................

With as many years as I have watched storms come and go, I can tell you this for sure.  It's doesn't mean anything till it's on the ground and keep your fingers crossed we stay on the good/snowy side of this storm.  With the temps I'm seeing it should be a good snow that will pack down very nice.

Update:  It's 1am and the snow has started.
Update:  7:30am this morning (Thur)  We woke up to 4 to 6  inches of new white stuff.

Did it again........

Went out riding last night and started to do the report when we got back.  Well the next thing I knew was I had a stiff neck and it was time for bed.  So here's Tuesday's video on Wednesday morning.  I'll have today's later on.

Not perfect...........

Conditions aren't perfect, but it sure is rideable.  More than one person has said the same thing, it's better than what I have at home, nothing.  It's been cloudy the last few days and we have seen a heavy dusting the last two mornings, which has helped out some.  Not much else to report as the weather has been quiet.

Got a little.........

First thing this morning it was on the warm side, high 20's.  But around noon it started to drop and we are back into the teens now.  With the traffic we have in town this weekend, the colder, the better to hold things together.  Radar is showing some snow off to our west and it's headed our way.  So cross your fingers we see a few inches overnight.
