Well guess who's on the wrong side of the storm. We are and at 8am it's 41 degrees with light R coming out of the sky. The northeast sure hasn't seen winter stick around for more than a few days this year. Even Bangor Maine is going to see R and high temps today. More later..............
4:10 update: Temp has dropped to 33 and the R has changed back to snow. Question is will we get enough to get any riding in.
4:14 update: Now it's back to R again.....give me a break. I'm going to the rec Center and fix the cam.
Keep updates coming please.....
ReplyDeletei truly feel bad for the area businesses,i dont have to ride ,they have to survive.
DeleteI am sick... We have stalled for 4 weeks waiting for the snow, cleared the deck for this Thursday and Friday in anticipation of leaving tomorrow afternoon for a long weekend and now it has to shoot into the 40s when the precip falls during a week of record lows. El nino ruins every winter it's here. :(
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable !!!! it's only the 16th of February and we could be toast for the remainder...please make the Rain stop and freeze back up...I can't take this anymore....
ReplyDeleteOnce again ugh!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI officially name this season as "Maybe next week"
ReplyDeleteMaybe next week is the definition of this season !!!!! I agree.....
DeleteThe good news is soon we won't have to look at the cams anymore....
ReplyDeleteSo aggravated and completely defeated at this point! El Nino has ruined the season like never before. Just want Spring to start up so at least we can begin trout fishing or is El Nino going to ruin that too? Now I know why people drink! 50F and pouring rain in the middle of February. Give us a freakin break!
ReplyDeletejust remember who has it worse The people who cann't spend money or the people who can not make it:{
ReplyDeleteVery good point!!
DeleteThat is a great point! Feeling bad for everyone!
DeleteExcellent Post . Trump Will Bring the Jobs back with the stroke of a pen as soon as NAFTA and TPP is erased.... Hated the astard but hes Practically an INDEPENDENT which is what this country needs. (sorry to bring up Politics here) But yeah Jobs and benefits for people WHO ACTUALLY WORK is what this country needs not handouts
DeleteThis is really unbelievable! I am a very positive person but even so I can only handle so much! I thought surely it can not go from fridged to 40's so quickly! I was wrong!! Hopefully it will turn around just as quickly! When and if it does Old Forge will look like Martin Luther King weekend! Lol
ReplyDeleteIts Over... the Fat lady has been on the stage singing since December ..pack it up and wait for next year
ReplyDeleteyou are right
DeleteIn 50 something years this is the most disappointing winter I can ever remember. What keeps us going is knowing where our averages come from. An extreme the other direction is now due & I can't wait!
ReplyDeletePlease everyone im tired of hearing the complaining about el nino. If all you guys do is complain then maybe you should find another sport. Things are bad enough and you guys just make thing worse with the negativity. You guys complain in late december when we get a meltdown and everyone cries saying its over. This bog has turned out to be nothing but a bunch of crybabies. Gets worse every year.
ReplyDeleteHey weatherman Dave, how are those trails looking? You still riding tomorrow? You said all should be good right?
ReplyDeleteTrails look horrible. My driveway is a pile of slush. Gouing to gore tomorrow since obviously won't be riding. As long as my kids have fun that's all that matters!! Definetly will support local restaurants while here. Place is a ghost town. I think I'm the only one here on the block. Horrible!!
DeleteOF getting totally destroyed today. Done waiting - we just booked a trip to Mexico for the end of the month. See ya 2nd week of March if it's any good by than. So glad I only invested in a new Klim jacket this season. For others including local business and staff I feel horrible.
ReplyDeleteWith gas so low it was set up for a great year of blowing it out in the bar and restaurants. The TOW business have to make it now basically till month after mud season on a shoestring.
ReplyDeleteMother Nature is so crazy she needs some prozac this year. All I can say is I have had some great riding in OF this year. Now it's our turn to open our doors to you snowmobile enthusiasts we have had little to no snow all season Now we get almost 2feet in a 24 hour period. When we have snow we have wonderful riding so please come to Western NY......Steve I will check your web cam daily I'll even see you this summer bringing the boat up.....thank you for all your hard work informing us crazy people who are so compassionate about our sport......
ReplyDeleteDon,
Deletewhere? we have this weekend opened and was coming to OF on thur. Can you send me any info on where to go, stay, etc?
Hi Fred B
DeleteWe are located near Letchworth State Park and in the Genesee Wyoming Chautauqua Allegany counties. I believe almost all the trails are ooen in these areas. All kinds of lodging and accommodations. Google area counties I mentioned and they will give you all info you need.Bad news is it is suppose to warm up and even possibly rain by Friday and Saturday. Just so frustrating. Mother Nature has been so cruel this year to us winter enthusiasts. Good luck hope something works out for you.
Green grass, mudd and sticks...welcome to OF...I still await lake effect and cold...take the tracks to cranberry lake and sabattis...thirsty moose for lunch...then the alarm goes off and I wake up to this for the 3rd time this season...
ReplyDeleteDevastating tbe web cam says it all.
ReplyDeleteJust saw TEAM DD running down trail 5. Cigar smoking manly men. They run on anything them big thundercats.
ReplyDeletesmoke baby smoke what are you smoking
DeleteDoes this weekend look ok for riding?

DeleteAll groomers are out and working 24 hrs should be in good shape
DeleteSure, for riding anything but a snowmobile!
DeleteYeah. JET SKIING. Smiths has all the Crates outside ready to go
DeleteThis is the problem with this blog. When people post a question like this and the people with nothing better to do with there lives believe it and respond
Deleteactually it was a good question. What do you mean stupid people? FYI the weather did change. It was calling foe 5-8" of snow friday night and 1-3" saturday morning. That would be good to ride.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!!! Funny DD circle jerk. But anyway. Looks like we could be riding this weekend.
