We dodged the R thing and have had snow all afternoon, with 3 to 5 inches on the ground at 4:45pm. Those of you who are waiting for conditions to get better, better not wait to much longer. The days are getting longer and I really don't think it's going to get much better than it is right now. Heading out for a ride later on and by what everyone has said, the conditions are good. I'll let you know in the next post.
Today's Video for...............
It's all about how bad you wanna ride. Personally, we found it all pretty good, even trail 1 wasn't as bad as we've seen it. The first time we came to Old Forge, 6 years ago, we did 15 miles in a full weekend. we had no idea where to go, which direction to go, what trails went where, and we thought we'd done pretty good. Needless to say we've spent the last 6 years talking with fellow sledders, learned our way around and love just being there. It doesn't much matter if the trails are pristine or not. This past Presidents weekend we put on around 600 miles and loved every minute of it. It's all about the experience, not how fast you can ride, or how much damage you can inflict on the trails. Enjoy it for what it is, when it's gone you'll wish you did.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree.
ReplyDeleteI also agree, its a shame that the people with the negative
ReplyDeleteout look dont read this, and enjoy the area good or bad.
Life is way to short, enjoy it, you never know.
Hi crew! Where is this trail that cuts over to Raquette Lake from MRP? Where does it come out?
ReplyDeleteWent to Old Forge this past holliday weekend and I was really not sure what to expect. Long story short, the trails were great and I cannot say enough good things. I do not think I ever saw as many riders out than I did this past weekend and I must say the trails were kept in great shape. Even late afternoon on Sunday, the trails were great.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work! And thank you for your honesty Steve.
Hi Steve,I have been checking out the webcams. The new snow looks great and it sounds like the trails are at top shape. We're not able to come up until March 5th. Save some snow... As always, you have done a great job with all of the info this year. It is greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWheres the little snowman??
ReplyDeleteDoing maid services.
Deletehe got run over by the dirty dozen!
DeleteGlad to see the Dirty Dozen is getting their reputation back! We've been out of Old Forge for a few years and gl glad we got about 6 of the thundercats ready this season. Ahhh, I'm an old timer who misses those days of drag racing at the airport way back before there were snodeo shootouts...
Deletetime to rebuild him
ReplyDelete@ 6:26 Those were the days when Old Forge got real snowstorms, and it was common for the trails to have a 20 inch base. I to remember those days.
DeleteFYI..the Yami-Cats are "outta the bag"
