With the warmer weather today and it looks like more of it this week. I'd say that spring time conditions will be back with us very soon. So I wouldn't wait to long to get that last ride in.
Hi Steve Thanks for the videos We are coming up Wednesday night to ride on Thursday and Friday.Do you think the tracks and roads will still be ridable. We are trying to plan some trips?
Well, was up last thursday and friday and I was glad to get in one more ride...all inner trails were phenomenal! Trail 5 was lousy, but otherwise, can't complain...the lakes were good to take to get around that. I did a little riding on the tracks too and they were fantastic as well!! The plows beat up uncas, and really are a huge pain to all snowmobilers, but whatever...it was a solid year, here is to an even better year next year! Thanks Steve for your site!
They've been plowing Uncas almost 6 miles down. It really Is not worth driving that way anymore. Wish they'd leave A little on the edge for us. It had to hurt the business at The boat and the tap room.
Rode today to norregewock tracks were in great shape, but tracks were starting to show. IMHO with the warmth coming they will show even more. Inner trails still almost perfect. Going to tty confusion flats tomorrow. As Steve says, probably wont be stripped steak on Thursday
I cant believe all the businesses and restaurants closed.... the trail passes and trails system are open till April 1. Why wouldnt they stay open till then. Or the ones that are open have a very limited menu.
There is a lot involved in keeping a restaraunt open with the purpose of hoping it snows and hoping people will come up... years of poor march weather dug into the pockets of many adirondack eateries. I was not surprised to see so many closed and wasnt mad either... happy i rode 450 miles over the weekend and wont complain about the slice of pizza i had at the nice n easy.... lookin forward to next year.
Just got back from Old Forge today. Excellent riding from Saturday through last night. Groomers were out all over the place and the trails were really good. They were starting to show a little wear in places by late yesterday. We rode to Brantingham and had a great, I do mean great, meal at the Coach Light restaurant. Breakfast was really good at Walt's every day. And it wouldn't be a trip up if we didn't visit Hard Times Cafe. The businesses that were open really worked to feed all the riders that were in town. Thanks to the people who work hard to make Old Forge, Inlet, and the surrounding areas a fun place to ride. And thank you, Steve, for the web cams and the work you do on this site so we know what is happening in Old Forge and on the trails. Hope next year brings another good riding season!
well said and a few other places do good job , store in brantingham is good place for lunch, brnyes store makes awsom suds any way you want it . the stake house is good dinner . thanks for awsom season.
GREAT Fri-Sunday , past.. weekend. Just MRP was not as good as I thought..Indian lake north and back to Raquette was a hoot.Back on 5 to GiGi..toast to the end of safe, stimulating..season..
Great year just over 3000,miles!!! all in the adirondacks and old forge area. thank you steve for all ur great reports!!!, one more ride on tap then some local playing here in johnsburg,,,but its coming to an end :( thank you again for all your reports!! Brian Passaglia.. Johnsburg ny
Inner trails are good, really rough to get into them, i come into town from petes peak/4a and it barely rideable, once over the bridge on north street its fair/snirt. Past 3 it get better. Lakes are slush, we just rode to inlet and back for dinner. Im headed home sat morning, dont think it will last long once the sun comes out tomorrow. Dave
i have a house in big moose roads are bare inner trails are pretty good with bare spots on some turns. i rode trails 2 29 3 and buzzed around most inner trails.even took train tracks they where ok went to stillwate via the trail along the road then over to noridgewock all ok except 3/4 mile dirt road to get to set back on stillwater res. put on a quick 82 miles and getting ready to go out and do it again saw maybe 10 other people.i would not travel great distance to ride it but since house and sled are here why not and im close to the station so i have easy trail access
Its Over folks we rode out to stillwater today. There was probably 40 people out or less that we seen. As always around town looks much worse as back in the woods. Started riding Sunday Dec 23rd and finished Sat March 30th..
Some places didnt get a Avg Winter Id say the oldforge and Tughill area had a great season..

Shame those two warm ups wiped out 50 inches in a combined 4 days. How incredible it would have been without them. Still outstanding season. Thanks Steve... seeee ya

You can't fight stupidity. Why would you leave a little snow on the side of the road when your the"SNOWMOBILE CAPITAL OF THE NORTHEAST".......

ReplyDeleteA 45" strip of snow on the side of the road would be marvelous. Don't think it is too much to ask for.
