    3. Hello every one I have a story for you. It starts out with a snowmobile and its owner. The poor snowmobile sits all alone in its trailer waiting to be unleashed. The owner spending more time complaining of this and that and then this again forget even why he bought this machine . Trail conditions are no good . Gas prices too high and hotel rooms rates outrageous . This all makes me sick to my stomach! I drive from Babylon village on the south shore of Long Island 6 f ing hours away and you know what ? I bust out my cash with a smile. People do have too make a living and let's face it this is an expensive sport with or without feet of snow on the ground. Man up boys and remember the next time you fill up your tank or rent a room or buy a set of carbides that you are helping to ensure these places you like to go too will still be there . Steve thankyou for all your hard work dedication and tolerance for some of the rants on this blog . In case anyone is wondering I ride a 2014 zr 8000 sno pro limited paid in full and am not a kid 31 years old and been at this for a while . I do have to admit that this is not a good season and may be a short one , but if your posting on here your obviously alive and that's better than most . No worries to all my fellow brothers who would destroy a set of $110 carbides on there c n a pro3 razors skis just for one ride down the trail. The snow will come ! Oink

  5. hey Steve...I will be sitting home this weekend, but have way to many years and miles in this racquette to sit home and cry. Actually I will be sitting home laughing while I read this blog at the people who think these conditions are worthy of riding....enjoy.

    1. I don't think you even own a SM. Not sure what your agenda is either? You are on here daily bashing Steve and the trails. Get off the computer and back to playing your xbox. This is a site for people who actually like to ride. Winter is different EVERY year, why keep bashing people who actually are having some fun? jealous maybe?

  6. My sled ran at 188 F last weekend, my son put a rock through his cooler and I have sliders to change on another. I will stay home this weekend working on sleds....no time to cry.

Read the trail conditions clowns...SPRING CONDITIONS!!

  8. WOW!!! Yep the town says almost spring conditions. What a joke this is. This is the absolute worst year in a very long time. Last year was terrible. But this time last year we had alot more snow then we have now. Guess because it is WARM during the day. Dosent mean anything how cold it is overnight. The upper 20 degree weather and sun is killing it quick. Unless there is a MAJOR storm you can forget about having good riding this year. And I am not being negative. Its a shame but its reality.

  15. I'm a definite glass half full guy when it comes to riding, but Old Forge was about the worst I've seen it in a long time when I rode it yesterday. The "snow" cover was extremely tired.

Is it ride-able? Certainly, yes! But I'm not coming back your way until Old Forge gets more snow.

    Here's my ride report:

    1. Darrin has a good, honest site that covers a broader range of the Adirondacks. Check him out. And a bonus, he's a meteorologist with honest weather forecasts. Good job Darrin.

  17. just because some of us are from long island doesnt mean were rich cuz we have brand new sleds hahahaha, thanks Steve!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yep some of you are rich some of less off
Not pointing a finger at anyone here but in my experiences riding OF and the Hill (over 25 years) some of the rich one can care less about how the ride and the drinking they do while out on the trails
Driving on the wrong side, going like a bat out of hell, in plane just not giving a dam about anyone but themselves
That also goes for some of the poor ones that do that too
With conditions as they are now not much control on a lot of the curves while bouncing over the rocks
As for trail conditions reports most are posted hours after a ride so conditions do change
Steve does try and give a good report as do others but like I said they change with weather and riders
Things have changed over the years and not all for the good

  19. Steve - love the half full, half empty analogy - LOL! I always say, "go with what you know and be happy with what you got!" Enjoy the riding my friend while we suffer with temps in the 60's and 70's in Big D this weekend! Hope to see you this summer as we are planning a trip to Old Forge to escape the Texas heat!
