We got 6 to 8 inches from the lake effect and it has helped out some. As there are a few people out giving it a try, because before this snow, it wasn't even an option. I'm guessing most of the people I've seen are here for the holiday week and figured why not give it a shot. Cross your fingers we don't see the Sunday spike and R they are calling for.
Today's Video.................
Looking forward to another year in old forge. I'll never forget the first time I came up with a group of friends. It was 1975. I was 16 years old. If you stepped off the trail, the snow was 4 ft. deep. The snow banks in town were unreal. The sleds back then broke down alot. Most of them were used and abused. We were kids having the time of our lives. 2 older guys came up with us to supervise the trip. Thru the years, i've brought friends and family up to experience all the fun. I have alot of stories to tell. Life is short. Enjoy it while you can!!

Just because it's jan 3 with very little snow , means you have to go tear up what little snow is on the trails.. When there nothing to ride on why dosent the TOW close OF trails? It's not like they open them up in NOV when we receive rideable conditions. If what some do when the trails are not ready ruins it for the rest of us. Well let's change the RULES. Until the trails are rideable, should it be DEC or FEB fine those who cannot obey. Now if you own a business and think this is crazy, for the few rooms you rent when it's terrible make you any money, If a few more days and a little more snow should have made it good, and now you triple the amount of people in town well $$$, we all went to 3rd grade should be easy to figure out. Sell warm beer no one comes, sell cold beer bar is FULL
ReplyDeleteHi John,
DeleteThe trails open after the closing day of big game hunting season. So if there is good snow early, you aren't able to ride on the trails yet. What is rideable snow? To me and to many others, the snow we have now isn't enough, but to others, it is and will ride on it. So why doesn't the town close the trails down? They can't, because if they did, people would be asking for refunds on the permit they purchased. This is one of those no win type of things.

steve someone needs to call state highway department and let them know there is snow on rt 28 through town . I've never seen that, its always water or liquid rust . jeff
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff,
DeleteI'm sure they will be out there very soon, as you are correct, they like to keep it bare.
the town of webb should do just like all towns in vt do and that is take care of the roads that run through in cluding state rt .The state doesn't care about local business . jeff
ReplyDeleteNew York has a bare road policy for all of it's roads. At one time TOW Highway did plow Rt28.
DeleteLet it snow plows the roads as long as the trials have snow on them for is to ride who cares if the road has a little snow on it
