Haven't posted much over the last week with getting ready for Santa and the lack of things to report. I can tell you this, it's chilly tonight and with the lack of deep snow cover its driving frost into the ground.

Forecast is looking better for the beginning of the week. Who knows we may have riding for Christmas week this year. At the least, I hope we have enough snow for the kids to enjoy their outdoor Christmas presents. Hope you have your Christmas shopping almost done. Christmas is only a week and a half away.

I forgot to finish telling you about the trail cam in the video. The equipment for the trail cam has uploaded it's last picture. That camera system has been online for 15 plus years and died a few days ago. But don't worry I have a new one coming and hope to have it back online next week.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 15 inches with locally higher amounts of up to 20 inches north of Route 28 in Herkimer County. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will lead to areas of blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties. * WHEN...From 1 AM Thursday to 7 AM EST Friday.
Cross your fingers we get it. If we do we'll be back in business. Because you'll see in today's video we took a good hit over night. Won't be the first time we went from poor to good over night.

The Town of Webb Snowmobile Trail System has MARGINAL conditions overall on up to 5” of saturated base. Grooming is suspended due to rain, mild temps and extremely mushy conditions. There may be water on the trails in many areas. Trail #10 has unavoidable standing water on the trail 1.5 miles north of Rondaxe.

Opening day of the season and people got in some seat time. But not enough to get that sweet smell of two cycle in the air. We had some R today but not enough to do any real melting. So far the snow has just absorbed it. Later in the week is going to be the question.

* WHAT...Snow and occasional mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches and ice accumulations of less than one tenth of an inch. * WHERE...Portions of eastern New York and southern Vermont. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Sunday.
We had snow in the air most of the day. I didn't keep track of how much we got over the last 24 hours. But I can tell you this. The snow stick out front is at the one and a half foot mark of settled snow.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 7 inches of more possible. Winds could gust over 35 mph. * WHERE...Hamilton, Northern Fulton, Northern Herkimer, and Southern Herkimer Counties. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin to overspread the area from west to east Wednesday afternoon and continue into Thursday morning then transition to lake effect snow showers Thursday afternoon into Friday night. Localized snow squalls may be possible Thursday morning. Gusty winds on Thursday may lead to blowing and drifting snow.
Like always you never know till it's all said and done on what we get. Things are shaping up for the beginning of a good base by what I'm seeing. Light R Monday and Tuesday to put moisture in the snow we have and then snow with temps dropping.
