I don't have the snow cover map today again. Not sure what is going on with that site that I get it from. Rafting trip went this morning and it looks like the river should hold for the trip tomorrow also.
The first thing to think about is where are you going to be able to ride them. Not all the land that we ride snowmobiles on is owned by the town. A good amount of it is leased each year for the winter. Going north the town owns just past where trail 1 and pipeline come together. With out looking at the tax maps I can't say for sure where the lines are in other directions. At a normal rate of speed, I'm guessing you would be at the line to where the town owns in 15 or 20 minutes. Also let's not forget we are in the Adirondack Park so shame on you if you hurt a fern. Living inside the Blue Line (Adirondack Park) the rules are different than other places.
If you want to ride atv’s just go to tug hill. And Steve is right living inside the blue line you have a lot of laws and rules that you have to consider. I’m sure if the greens had their way they would ban snowmobiling entirely in the park.
See right there is the attitude go to tug hill don't try to work w/ government and see what happens just go. So you people just don't care no one even wants to try. No wonder customers are finding other places to go, no one in O. F. cares.
Don't know what Steve thinks but I say give it a try, with the right rules set up and enforced it could be a winner. Open a small area at first and try it,one will never know until you try. Will take some planning and some work.Problem is the town board, don't believe any of them like change and don't know how to make it. happen. They are like 5 lost people and don't know how to move forward.
The answer to all your questions is NO the town doesn't want side by sides or four wheelers..If the town folks had their way there wouldn’t even be any snowmobiling. They love our money but they don’t love us!! Imagine every winter your town got overrun by people driving snowmobiles on your streets and over your lawn and over your grandma.
So I guess its bye bye to O.F. if they don't do it they don't want. No change to pull in some business is going to shut businesses down. If you don't change with the times it's over.
Ok give the town folks their way and shut it all down No more snowmobiles. Close everything down for the winter and starve. After all the towns people are the tax payers and should have a say in it. just think of all the people going out of business and moving on to hunt work and make a living. Sell the groomers. The MT. sure isn't going to support the town it cost the town. You people better think long and hard.
As to the snowmobiles and the winter season I really think the decision will be made by one person and that is Mother Nature not only for old forge but for many places sad but true
👍
ReplyDeleteTime for some big changes,it's now or never things are going away fast.
ReplyDeleteSteve. What’s your take on side by sides and atv

DeleteJust the inner trails would be a start and see how it goes. Got to start somewhere.

ReplyDeleteMany years ago the town was overrun with sleds and everyone was glad to see them. It was great and money was made. Sure did wake up a sleepy town.
DeleteSoooooo none of the people living in old forge ride a snowmobile or would like a summer ride on an atv?
