Well it sure isn't warming up much today. At 10am it was 12, at noon it was 15 and at 1:15pm it's 17. Calling for below zero tonight and cold all week. It looks like it's going to be a quiet week, as I don't have many people coming in this week. If everyone else in town is the same it's going to be a great week for riding.
Here's todays video.......
Hearing the possibility of a major storm up there tues......that would be great!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell thats good, maybe it will cover up some of that brown sand up there.
ReplyDeleteblizzard forecasted....nmo if i can onkly find people to go up there with!
ReplyDeleteWow, just what OF needs, a big dump, as Scottyb would say. Hopefully it does just that.
ReplyDeleteMr weatherman, you've been 60% right this year, how about 100% on this storm.
ReplyDeleteTrails were HORRIBLE Monday early afternoon and this is after perfect grooming conditions Sunday night. What happened? There was light traffic Sunday due to snow (bad visibility) and the usual mass exodus PLUS it was very cold. So what happened??? I personally haven't ever seen it take so long to simply get the inner loops back in shape....ugh Should have just left Saturday vs. staying in anticipation of a good ride for my guests on Monday....
ReplyDeleteI agree Ticket Tim. Trails last weekend in Old Forge were HORRIBLE!!! WTF is going on. No grooming all weekend????? Come on Old Forge - you take our $$$ for trail permits and then do nothing. I have been going there for years but it is looking more and more like it is time to move on.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - I can tell you that the traffic on Friday was VERY high and the trails went from good to fair in 1/2 a day before Saturday. This was a real busy weekend and I'm sure they did what they could here (I guess?). My problem is Sunday to Monday as I've never seen it so bad......that is unacceptable!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm at the point where I can only plan a real ride Tuesday - Thursday weather permitting.....ugh Because it's tough when your first 15-20 miles of the day launching in OF are total crap. I expect that once you get out past Brantingham (grooming club of the year last year - always on top of it after a busy weekend and more miles of trails too I may add) or past where the Trackside Trailblazers groom like Brady Lake and south as those are usually also good, so outside these areas you get what you get but not here in town.
Sorry to be a complainer!
Between the built up snow piles on the sides of the roads the last few years, the plowing down to pavement on the extreme sides (no not the State salt issue) like on Joy Tract Road and so many others. Some things are done well and others need attention to increase interest in this area. The trail fund must be suffering due to lower numbers. Economy, gas prices and all that I get it but some issues can be resolved. However, with virtually no communication with the riders other than a few independent business owners like Steve here people just give up since their questions and concerns cannot be pointed anywhere. Even home owners/tax payers that ride get ignored! I know I'll be considering going back to VT for a break in the next few years even though I have a sweet set-up here.....ugh
I'm not sure were you were riding but I thought that the trails were in very good condition for the sparce amount of snow the area has gotten this year. Rode all day Fri, and Sat. and yes conditions did detererate Sat. afternoon but the groomers were out there doing there job.
