There are those that think we need feet more of snow. But if you ask the people that have their buildings collapsing from the snow load, they don't think so. Below is a video of a fire house just south of Old Forge that collapsed from the snow load and this isn't the only building that collapsed in the last week in the region.
Today's Video............
Fire House
guess some have forgotten how to shovel mild winters will do that
ReplyDeleteHow does the fire dept not get the roof cleared ? They are the number one people who should know all that weight can’t happen
ReplyDeleteYou said the magic words Should Know And who's in charge.
DeleteShame on them for not removing snow on the roof that’s what happens in mild temps and rain
ReplyDeleteDoes insurance cover that or is negligence because it should’ve been cleared off
ReplyDeleteI would think every case is different. The addition I put up in 1996 is rated for 75 lbs per square foot. I had someone tell me their building is rated for unlimited snow load. This winter has been different. The temp hasn't gone above freezing in over a month and a half.
DeleteSo many roofs haven't slide off. When it comes to insurance. Will it cover you if you fall off of your roof shoveling it? I heard some fire depts wanted to shovel their roof, but because of insurance reasons they couldn't.
The sad world we live in today if the roof needs shoveling do it.This new generation is something else and a lot of it is their city slickers that moved from the city and don't know survival. Never would have made it 50 years ago in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes down to is the fire department has plenty of people and plenty of apparatus as far as boom trucks ladders it shouldn't be a problem
