Our ride last night didn't go as planned, but we still put on 85 miles. We headed to Brantingham and went in the back way through the Flats. There was two areas with wash outs, that we had to go around and that was OK. As someone else had already made a path in the woods to do it. But then we encountered a hill that wasn't very nice to one of the sleds that wasn't studded. No one got hurt and everything is still in one piece. It just really took the fun out of the ride for the night. Around Old Forge the ice base seemed to be broken up much more than over towards Brantiingham. Weather has been better than first predicted and I'm crossing my fingers that we may even see some snow over the next few days. May not be enough to put us back into riding conditions, but it's better than having it go the other way.
Today's Video............
Next week temperatures pushing 50f! Stick a fork in it, were all done. Another stink fest year taking shape!

ReplyDeleteStick a fork in it is right
ReplyDeleteI think the only way to turn this season around is the snow gods require a Sacrifice I say lets give them Team DD !!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the season is toast at all..it'll start to turn by next Friday...if we can avoid the big R until then the base will survive...Only takes a day or 2 of good snow and cold and February and March may turn out pretty good !!..let's hope...
DeleteHi Steve,
ReplyDeleteHow do you get to the flats, towards Brantingham?
You guys forgot about February...the best month to ride....is not even close to upon us yet. Stop crying. Lake effect is not the snow we really want (if we had a choice) anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'd take anything that is white don't care what type it is
DeleteU My friend are probably the sanest one on this Blog Amen to You.. Snowmobiling is gonna be great again in due time
DeleteOff ten mile trail it's a right if heading towards brantingham.
ReplyDeleteThanks. We've been to the Pine Tree several times. Just didn't know where the flats came in. We usually come ib on Partridgeville Rd.
DeleteYes off the 10 mile trail as you incline..take a right and go past stony lake..will seem very odd when you're in there but it's awesome...easy to get lost in there...hence the name confusion flats..next big snow you have to try it..best to do it the first time with someone who knows the area..then you;re good to go.
DeleteIt's called "Confusion Flats" if you don't know where you are going you need tour guide!!
ReplyDeleteJust give it time, it will come.
ReplyDeleteIts Old Forge, changes over night. We rode more this year than last, no reason to give up in January, last I checked we can ride up to the end of March.
ReplyDeleteEvery year there is a January thaw, but this is ridiculous!!! I hope the 2nd half of the season is better
