Winter Weather Advisory

 WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM FRIDAY TO 4 PM EST SATURDAY.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6
inches.

* WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties.

With cold temps returning to the area and some fresh snow, riding should be pretty good for the weekend.

Big Moose Vintage Snowmobile Weekend

Gates open at 11am, Saturday, March 1st

Parking: You may park on Big Moose Rd (lakeside), please only park on the one side (that is the right side of the road, if you're coming up from Eagle Bay). No parking on Glenmore Rd.

The event will be held on the ice on Big Moose Lake. Concessions stands will be available.

PLEASE DO NOT cross private property to access lake without owner's permission.

Sleds registered for the event will not require, NYS registration, trail permit or insurance, however if you intend to ride your sled outside of the event area you will be required to have all of the above.

Didn't hurt much..........

 We had warm temps today and some R.  But it really didn't hurt us much.  The base got soft and will freeze back down good and solid.  Pay attention to the railing at Stillwater and the roof on the sign at the info center and you see we didn't have much of a meltdown.  Not that we like seeing days like this.  But in the long run it will help keep the trails open longer.

Some may think..........

 There are those that think we need feet more of snow.  But if you ask the people that have their buildings collapsing from the snow load, they don't think so.  Below is a video of a fire house just south of Old Forge that collapsed from the snow load and this isn't the only building that collapsed in the last week in the region.

Something different...........

 Went out on the trails tonight for a short ride and had a fire.  No not a sled on fire, made one and hung out with some friends.  It's funny how many people went past and never even noticed the fire.
