You couldn't ask for a better day than today, for this fun event at McCauley. Hope you enjoy it. Looks like Sunday is going to be interesting weather wise. They have a flood watch up for our area.
Big Moose to OF to Big Moose station to Norrigewok to Vanaukens back to Big Moose. 97 mile Saturday. Trails were flat and fast. Let hope for a great season next year
Thanks for that video showed it to my daughter she learned how to ski there & wants to do it next year it was a banner year for riding was disappointed w/ the track grooming in forge but oh well it was good conditions for a long stretch let’s hope it’s the same or better next season SEEYA!!!!!
If you are talking about the grooming of the RR tracks in the Old Forge area. Please note that Old Forge does not do them. The State pays Trackside Blazer and BRASS (Beaver River) to do them. Trackside does south of Thendara and BRASS does north.
Is it because they won’t pull the rails out so we’re not going to groom type of spite does the state pay them to groom &they don’t ? What a shame one could get to some nice trails if this corridor trail is maintained
The train is part of the adirondack history and needs to stay. The rails north of old forge should never have been removed. There are plenty of places to ride bikes and hide without the rail bed. Rode snowmoble over those rails for years and never had a problem and still ride them.
The town of Webb needs to get the contract with the state to groom from Old Forge to Beaver River. Would need another groomer and can afford one instead of taking the permit funds and spending it on the ski hill.
Does the train stop in thendara or big moose station wherever it does the rails should be removed it’s unsafe to ride on w/ a snowmobile & almost impossible w/ a bike or quad
That’s because there was so much snow the rails never showed I’ve seen people catch a bolt holding a rail down it’s not pretty will wreck ur machine & do a # on ur body GET RID OF THE RAILS IF NOT USED FOR TRAINS!!!
If there's not enough cover on the rails stay off of them. Common sense should tell you that. And by the way bolts don't hold the rails down, spikes do and the rails are bolted together. So if it's not SAFE don't go there use common sense. RIDE SAFE
Pretty neat, but no red tent today!
ReplyDeleteJust looked at Friday and Saturday and there was no rent tent on 4th. You could see some sled tracks in the water covered ice.

DeleteSo why doesn’t brass go all the way to Thendara? Been there multiple times this year & they were trash every time
DeleteSame reason its trash after beaver river. They only keep from big moose station to restaurant good. Thats where their $$$ comes from.

DeleteI rode the rain bed all winter long and not one time did I feel unsafe. As a matter of fact it was very enjoyable.

DeleteShut down the rail bed to snowmobiles and that will end the problem, will have to work on that.
