I did it again, I said Tuesday morning we had light snow. When I should have said Monday morning. Wednesday is the 1st of March and we'll be getting into springtime conditions. Any days we don't see the sun will a blessing and the 10 day is looking pretty good with snow on most of the days and a few mostly cloudy.

We'll be having a full week of riding this week. Maybe some drizzle mid-week. Early evening Wednesday into early Thursday am. Depending on your riding habits it may not even cut into your seat time.

The weekend turned out to be pretty good, when you figure Wednesday morning there was no riding to be had in the area. And all it took was six inches of snow to make it happen.

February turned out better than January. We go in two weekends of riding compared to just one last month. Now let's see how next month turns out. We could have a gang buster March and make up for some of the lost seat time from the last two months.

The half foot we got Wednesday into Thursday has made it rideable again. Don't think you'll find normal conditions for this time of the year. But with the way this season has gone, it's looking pretty good to a lot of people, as you'll see in the video. Next week's forecast is looking pretty good if it comes true.

At 8am we have half a foot as of now and it's a good snow. Not fluff like lake effect. Snowblower bogged down when I did the sidewalks. Trail crew is back to work, saw groomer going out North Street this morning on the camera.
Will we see all snow from this storm? I'm hoping so, but a little R at the end could help things out. Emphasis being on little. I know, you're thinking I'm nuts. But adding a little moisture to fresh snow can help in freezing it up faster and making base. After the storm passes the temps and forecasted to drop.

I think most people are losing faith in the forecast. Not too long again, when the forecast was calling for a foot of snow. The phone would ring off the hook, with people looking for rooms. Now most people are waiting to see if it really happens before they call and make reservations. But I really can't blame them, with the way this winter has gone so far.

We didn't see any snow on Monday. But they are still calling for 3 to 5 by Tuesday evening. Local forecast at 11pm Monday did say that the snow we'll see on Wednesday to Thursday will be heavy wet snow. Which is just what we need to build up the base fast. It won't take much for it to pack down and the forecast is calling for the temps to drop like a rock on Friday morning. Cross your fingers it all comes together and we'll be riding this weekend again.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 7 PM EST
TUESDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Northern Herkimer, Hamilton and Northern Fulton Counties.
I made some changes a few months ago and no one seemed to notice. Last week I made another change and I thought for sure someone would comment about it. So far no one has said anything about it. Can you guess what it is?

With the forecast calling for almost 50 and showers on Wednesday. Tuesday looked like the last day of riding for a while. So, I took a quick ride to Stillwater for some lunch on Tuesday. Not sorry I went and the conditions where pick and choose or what you find in the spring. Go for miles and miles on good conditions and then find a patch of down right ugly.

Had a quick shot of snow Monday evening. Enough to help with the cooling and slide rails. We'll have limited riding conditions on Tuesday and then it looks like another warm up on Wednesday and Thursday.

We didn't see much of anything for snow most of the day. Then early evening we started to see some good lake effect move into the area. But that was just a tease, as it only lasted a few hours before it shut down.

The R has pretty much taken away the snow and we are down to the solid ice base. The forecast is calling for snow to start early Friday morning. I hate to say it, but we are now playing the wait and see game again. So cross your fingers and get dancing that we see a good shot of lake effect. Without it we won't be riding this weekend or anytime soon with the way the 10 day forecast looking.

It's nerve wracking when the change over from R to snow is on a Thursday over to Friday. This week is going to be one of them. When looking at the forecast you can count on the temp and that we'll see precipitation. But what form it comes out of the sky as and for how long or how much is always a crap shot. You know me, I always try to look on the bright side. So don't bag this weekend just yet.

Just a heads up. Clark's out of Eagle Bay opened a snowmobile rental shop across the street from the motel in the old trailer shop. By what I have seen it looks like they have a fleet of Polaris sleds. Cross your fingers we dodge the R on Thursday.

We're going to have an old fashion weekend here in Old Forge. With morning lows at 20 below or better. The trails are going to be tight and the sleds are going to be run crisp.

Didn't see the 2 to 5 of lake effect the local station called for. Got a heavy dusting at best. You can tell we hit 2 below this morning by the steam coming off the river at the covered bridge. How are the conditions? Depends on what you are looking for. Have some guests putting on 75 miles and happy with that and other are doing 200. It may not be perfect, but you can ride.
