  2. Understand someone died this afternoon after going too fast, being thrown from his machine, then being trapped underneath it in a creek when it rolled onto him. How tragic.

  3. Getting to the point where it's ridiculous. Been riding up there for years and have a camp up there. People need to slow down!! Snodeo weekend and this weekend how many fatalities? 6? At least. Craaazy! A friend of ours is a groomer, he says.. If your smart, you'll ride tues--Thurs ! Just saying.

  5. Yeah 2 folks being killed this weekend...Not good at all. I sure hope Alcohol did not play a factor. My friend up at ADK lodge says her heart sinks every time she hears the loud Siren go off !!!

  6. I started riding in Old Forge with my grandparents and parents in 1989 I have great memories as a kid doing so. I'm now 40 still riding up there with my mother, wife and 2 young kids. My wife and I had a discussion last night about how bad it's become. We've spent 9 days so far this season up there riding. We average 30mph and stay as far right as possible but have had a few incidents where people are out of control. I'm wondering what has happened to the "family atmosphere" Old Forge has pushed for years? I have yet this season to see law enforcement on the trail or even a road crossing. As much as we love this sport we're starting to question if we should continue. It's tough when our kids have become to enjoy it as much as we do.

  7. I agree, over the years it has gotten worse and worse, I think. I have been going to OF for 22 years. I do wish there were more LEO on the trail. I don't know what the answer is to get people to slow down. increase the cost of speeding tickets? make mandatory safety course for speeding XX over the limit? I don't know.

  8. OK so I'll put my two cents' worth in on this one. People are driving the same as they always have, as fast as they could go. But today's sleds let them go so much faster than ever before. So when things start to get out of control, they get out of control really BIG.

    1. I agree completely I've also noticed way more younger people on bigger sleds with less experience. At least it seems that way, they have zero trail educate.

    2. I have to agree to a point 30 or 70 is still going to get you killed sudden stopping into a tree or an oncoming rider does it every time. Icy trail conditions, out riding your headlight, bar running or just plain old inexperienced all factors ,Education is the only way It's a sad situation it's everywhere No one cause is always the correct one sometimes it's just a accident, People have been getting killed up here from the beginning in VT MA you name it, there's patrols all over the place people will always make a mistake. Nothing Good happens after Midnight.
