Many stayed home this weekend because it looked like the riding wasn't going to be all that great. But the last minute snow we got Thursday night really made a difference. It gave a better picture, to the people that came to the area for the free weekend, what the area has to offer.
Today's video.........
Some people might exaggerate how good the trails really are,ICE,ICE,ICE under a few inches of snow, however 12 plus wrecked sleds by 2pm from a dealer in old forge alone and a medical helicopter on trail one speaks VOLUMES!!! So I'm happy my group of guys stayed home this weekend.
ReplyDeleteTim,
DeleteThere's always ice under the snow, unfortunate people wrecked there sleds and someone got hurt, Free Weekend since it's conception has been a bad idea "My Opinion" the trails get overloaded groomers can't keep up, add in the bar runners it's a receipt for disaster. Know enough to stay away on Friday, Saturday rode Sunday plenty of snow knocked out 70 plus in 3 hrs don't even think about running the tracks to beaver river use the Flow , Maybe by Thursday. "Go Maddie !!! "
Zippy says time to retire from NASCAR and JGR and ride Old Forge forever! Life is good at rivers edge too. Buy it and ready for a total makeover. Pizza at screaming eagle is the the best.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some good snows coming this next week starting today
ReplyDeleteSon, 12 wadded up sleds is a lot bent iron. Hope all are ok. Suppose some were even treed.
ReplyDeleteYikes. Maybe this free weekend is not a ggo idea. Brings in more traffic on a weekend when traffic is already high.
ReplyDeleteThere was very very light traffic and the trails were great. If you are smart enough to slow down and especially when you come to a cure there shouldn't be a problem.
DeleteWeekend Warriors. You have to slow down on turns when icy. I coulda told you the corners were icy without being there, Was up a few weeks ago after a melt then a few inches on top didn't have an issue. Maybe laying off the booze would help too.
