Had two guys go out yesterday, after the temps dropped back down and they put on a hundred miles. They told me, as I've been saying, it's spring time conditions. The groomers are out, making the best of what we have and they did town with the small groomer this morning.
Got into otter lake around 5 and went out for a quick ride and dinner. Took the tracks up to thendara. Lots of rail showing, but passable. Then up trail 7 into old forge. Once in old forge trails were well covered, didn't see any bare spots. Trails were hard flat and fast with a loose granular type of snow on top. Plenty of riding to be had, did about 50 miles real quick last night and was well worth it. Looking for 200 more by the end of today. If you can ride, it's definitely worthh it, you can tell there's been a lot of melt in the last 2 weeks and this weekend could be last. But wait and see either way the season is coming to the end, and I am taking advantage of what we got for at least one last trip. But still hoping I can get one more in! Thanks Steve for all you do, it is greatly appreciated! Always enjoy reading the blog, even the naysayers make it interesting at times!
See this is exactly why I do NOT rely on what people say on here. No bare spots? Trails are flat and fast? Shows right there what a untruthful post. I was up there last weekend and trails were terrible with TONS of dirt. Not just alittle either. And flat? There wasent even close to being enough snow last week for the groomers to get the trails flat so guess they magically made it flat this week with half the amount of snow. You need a reality check. Take a peak at the information center cam. Thats reality for you. Season is long done.
HEY 500PM YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE BUTTON! YEARS AGO ALL THE OWNERS UP HERE WOULD SAY ARE YOU NUTS IT'S OVER! NOW TODAY THEY WAN'T TO SQUEEZE EVERY LAST DIME OUT OF YOU.THE HOSPITALITY IS LONG GONE UP HERE. IT'S A REAL SHAME BECAUSE THIS PLACE WAS THE BEST UP HERE AND IT'S GONE!
Heres my joke; Well I have to agree with anonymous at 5pm. From daikers on trail 5 to eagle bay was pretty crappy. I'm sorry it was so rough in your 4 mile loop you did last weekend.
Now for the serious part. I agree with the guys who know how to ride in march. If you know the trails you can find great stuff. I did 400 miles last weekend and didn't wreck my sled my carbides or my hyfax. To the trail 5 riding club, get out there and find the unbeaten path and please stop the bs reports
