Till the preseason trail permit sale is over for this year. As you'll see in today's video, the weather has been very much like winter here in the north country this week. With lake effect snow, temps in the teens and wind chills below zero. When we first started to get the lake effect it was only in the Old Forge area, Stillwater, Otter lake and over on the hill didn't get any. But as our last cold front moved into the area the snow was more wide spread and we all got some.
No pictures of Team D&D shredding the fresh pow pow. Wonder if momma grounded him......
ReplyDeleteWe'll be ready for 4th lake young fella. Todd at Big Moose had the t-cats dialed in last week.
DeleteDialed in to zero.
DeleteTeam D&D? Dirty Diapers?
DeleteSelling the old truck Steve? Will miss seeing the "dash cam" in your videos. Dave
ReplyDeleteHe should sell it. With all the money he makes !!!! that place is a gold mine ....
ReplyDeleteFrom the Utica OD:
ReplyDeleteNew York has established new standards for measuring snowmobile noise and identifying sleds that can be ticketed for being too loud.
The measure outlaws operating a snowmobile without a working muffler that keeps noise below 78 decibels at full throttle measured from 50 feet away.
It also bans snowmobiles putting out 88 decibels at 4,000 rpm as measured from about 12 feet behind a stationary sled with a sound meter microphone. That will use a test developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers.
The bill sponsors noted that the stationary test has been used in Michigan, Wisconsin and Colorado, and takes about 10 minutes to set up and one minute to administer.
About time, hope Old Forge quites things down this year.

Will older sleds be grandfathered in the new law?
DeleteI wonder if loud Motor cycles will be next. PRNY
ReplyDeleteThey should be, too bad they weren't included with this law.
Deleteto heck with that law...gotta catch me first !!!
ReplyDeleteLoud motor cycles dont cross private property that land owners let us use.
ReplyDeleteDave
We need a Great Winter and a Early Season. Alot of Business's in Forclosure if we dont see a 90s style winter...
ReplyDeleteLoud Pipes Saves Lives!
So do Helmets
DeleteThere will be ridable trails for snodeo this year. Snow in forecast for next 2 wks, and after 12/1 it looks like highs not getting above freezing. See you all soon - I'll be up for snodeo. -Team Dirty Dozen - Jimmy
DeleteMore people have seen Bigfoot than have seen Team D&D.
Deletepinky poo rode with the dirty dozen years ago. but in the last few years she couldn' get a good ride anymore. now i heard she is riding with BIGFOOT this year.you know that they say about big feet!!!!
DeleteThe r that's coming before the cold blast should help freeze the ground up nice!
ReplyDeleteI got a loud pipe ticket last year in MRP but the sled cop did not have a decibal meter. It was my word against his. I never paid the ticket and I got all my registrations this year with no problem. They will have a hard time enforcing this rule. If you know where the Feds sit you can run the loud pipe and just slow down before you get there. They always sit at the end of town and always in stillwater intersections. This is nothing but another money grab by an emotionally bankrupt culture..the loud can stays !!! Braaaaaaaaaap !!!!!
ReplyDeleteLoud Can sled owners belong in Tugg Hill with all of the other Boneheads! lol
DeleteBill
I agree. If i were a landowner and those Bozos blew through my property with those ridiculously noisy aftermarket pipes, I'd drop a couple trees across the trail and that would be that. What a jerk!
Deleteand then youd have nothing! twin pipes equal twice the fun
Deleteas long as that guy on the green firecat passes me quicker then later Im okay with whatever power you got afterall its a fun sport from a variety of perspectives. HAve fun T cats IM the 13th man

DeleteWell, for all of you posers surfin the web in your parents basement, and posting here on the Christy's Motel blog page - check with anyone who works at Daikers and they will confirm that my F7 was the first sled of year [again] last Saturday. DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to all.
ReplyDeleteDarrin @ ilsnow.com was spot on with the forecast snow to rain to snow on the back end. But more more importantly this storm was a great set up for base...the liquid precip plus these cold temps will freeze the ground rock solid!....plus these temps will cool down the lakes in a hurry with no slushy snow on top like last season...be up in a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the plug for ilsnow.com!
