Tuesday morning we woke up to some fresh snow and it turned the area back into a winter wonder land for the day. I've been playing with some thoughts of an upgrade to the PTZ camera on top of McCauley Mountain. With the mountain being shut down for the season. I'm able to do some testing, with what I'm hoping to make a permanent thing. You can check it out here:

Note the camera is still on a 5 minute schedule to move to different locations and there isn't much to see at this time. But think how nice it will be to watch the boats on the lake in the summer, people riding the chair lift and seeing the headlights of sleds going through the woods in the winter at night.

Faster than I thought............
The last few days we really took a hit and the snow is going faster than I thought it would. The new snow from the last few weeks is gone and we are down to the old snow. The stuff that has been thawed and refrozen many times and is pretty muck ice pellets, with the ice base under that. I had hopes of getting in that last ride and bragging rights that I did. But after looking at the 10 day forecast I don't think it's going to be happening.

SnoFest Weekend 2020
Looks like the end of the season may be sooner than we thought, with the way the forecast is looking. I was hoping to get in one more ride before I put them away for the season. Who knows, maybe we'll get one more blast before they swing the gates closed. Thanks to everyone for watching this season again.

Could it be............
After looking at the 10 day forecast, it makes you wonder if this is going to be the last weekend of riding for the season. I'm sure we'll see some more snow before the 1st of April. But will it be enough to entice people to head to the north country to go riding? The groomers have been out working the trails and we are into spring time conditions. So road riding is out of the question, but you'll find some of the best trail conditions of the season.

How's that go?
There's a saying here in Old Forge. If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will change. Well that sure was the case this morning. We picked up 3 to 4 inches in a very short time, enough to change the conditions and set things up for SnoFest this weekend. Got some time this afternoon and went to the top of McCauley to reset the trail cam. But I still wasn't able to get the PTZ working. Seems the last power outage did something in on it.

We almost..........
The day was going good, the sun first thing this morning didn't last long and we saw clouds most of the day. We saw a few passing light R events during the day. But around 6pm we starting seeing some R and with it was wind. At midnight the R is over and next it looks like winter will return. We did lose some snow in the front yard today, but it's still just shy of a foot on the snow stick.

Don't want to be...........
Not to be mister downer, but we are into March and the long range forecast isn't looking all that great for next week. So if you have any thoughts of getting in that one last ride you better do it soon. We'll have snow around for some time. But we're starting to see the warm sunny days and the freeze down at nights. So it won't be long before we have a lot of useless snow out there.
