Hi Steve, I just read that the permit prices are going up after this season. Any idea as to why this happened? I know the increase is only $15 for the early season permit but that seems a little steep. Obviously I am aware of maintenance costs and other odd costs but did something happen that brought the price rise on or has been in the works for awhile now? Thanks, Mike
I can't say why the permits went up for sure. But like everything else costs do go up. The last time the fee changed was in 2003. I know here at the motel I wonder sometimes if it's best to increase rates a little each year or go years and then make a larger increase. With the permits it works out to 88 cents per year from the last increase. For the fun of it I googled gas prices in January 2003 and a gallon was $1.46. So a good part on the increase is gone just in fuel costs. Check out the above chart. Fuel went crazy just after 2003.
This time of the year the land is leased to hunting clubs and the trails are closed and gated off to the general public. So my guess is pick up tracks of a club member.
I like it.i know we could have used that for years.
