You couldn't ask for things to come together better than they have with this snow event. Snow on a Monday and limited traffic on the trails. Groomers will be able to make great time out doing there thing. Because it does make a big difference on how much you can get done, when you don't have to stop. Then let's add in well below zero temps tonight to freeze it all down. Can you say..........Sweet!
Temp Update: The clouds have cleared out and with no cloud cover I wouldn't be shocked if we drop well below the predicted 13 below for tonight.
Today's Video...............
Looking great! Can't wait to ride fresh snow!
ReplyDeleteMan Steve you love that v plow your doing hell of a job
ReplyDeleteLittle sick of people on blogs bashing riders for being disrespectful and a lot of ahoes riding, my question is it really that bad out there riding or do u have a bad egg here or there and most riders are in fact respectful of fellow riders, please chime in with your opinion on this topic
ReplyDeleteI think 9 of ten are respectful, then you have the throttle heads that think there snowcross racers. Just this past weekend I was almost wiped out in the corners 4 times by people that overdrive there abilities to handle there sled at fast speeds.I think some people need to go back to snowmobile safety courses.Ireally think we need more police out there on weekends.I think of myself and the people we ride with to be very respectful riders, like you said . just a few bad eggs.
ReplyDeletethat's all we need is more cops!!!
Deletei disagree 100%. If 9 out of 10 are fine then I wouldn't almost get hit several times within each hour. I would say more like 5 out of 10. Go sit at Big Moose Yamaha at the pumps 10 minutes. Guarantee you will see at least a dozen kids trying to show off on their bank owned sleds. It gets worse and worse each year.
Deletethen go ride someplace else its not that bad
DeleteIf you're almost getting hit several times an hour, YOU are the problem. Get over on your side!
DeleteLeaving at 8am , to head up till Friday. Looks like great conditions!!
ReplyDeleteyou will NEVER see great conditions in OF or the inlet trail system. The town even says main trails are very rough even after the snow.
Delete8 to 10 inches of fluff can't fill in a 3 inch hole. no base in feb like other guy said it's about over.
DeleteYou should just go to the TOW site. 6" base. Will be 8" base by the end of the week. No idea where you get the no base thing from. Gets better and better every week. This weekend was 10 times better than last week. This up coming weekend will be even better. PLENTY of snow to ride. Whoever says different I know they havent been out.
DeleteU guys 9:59 and 10:44 make me sick listening to you
DeleteOnly thing holding a very marginal season to date together is the cold. At best the snow of last 24 hrs will pack to about 1" of base. Far from what snirty trails need to be good. Won't take much of a warm up at this stage to wipe things out. Best ride it while you can, hard to tell what's ahead.
DeleteTrail 6 update ...
ReplyDeleteI did here back from the town rather quickly. Steve you hit the nail on the head.
This is what I was told, it was due to lack of snow, more importantly The lower trail requires more groomer time, and
the trail foreman makes judgment calls based upon trail conditions, groomer
availability, snowmobile traffic. I don't agree with the neglect of this trail so other trails could be groomed multiple times, but if those that ride this trail continue to make noise about it maybe they'll start to realize how many people ride into old forge from the south. JMO
there is a group of us with a discussion going on about this on hardcoresledder. please chime in as the more who complain to those in charge about this the better odds of getting it resolved.
Deletehere is the link to the thread. http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/281-new-york/1333233-old-forge.html#post14108193
I also think 9 out of 10 are respectful riders, just a few bad eggs once and awhile. I guess it depends where and when you ride, I typically don't encounter many
ReplyDeleteAlso, to the naysayer above, I've been up 4 times this year and other than trail 6, old forge has had great trails every time and technically the season is not even halfway through yet. The best riding will be through the next 8 weeks. I know I'll be up again this weekend and next. Can't wait!
some of you anonymous people have nothing better to do then sit in front of your computer at HOME and BASH the conditions in OF. Find something better to do!
ReplyDeleteYou want flat smooth as a highway trails? Head to Canada
I can say with factual information the conditions up there are beyond better than what they were MLK weekend so with that being said,
Steve I will see you Wednesday for 5 days of great riding!!!!!!!!!
un like someone people I rather ride then sit in front on my computer and write BS
Brandt
All I care about is trail 5 being groomed so I can zip up and down all day after 5 shots and 5 beers at Daikers....juuuust kidding !!!...The trails are awesome and all the bashers and nay sayers need to be deblogged...

Two weeks ago I left old forge on Sunday as it began to rain. ... The trails were toast even before the rain. I didn't see much snow fall over the next two weeks but went up this past weekend regardless. I could not believe how good the trails looked. Specifically trails 1 and 10 which are typically hit or miss. .. Were flat and fully covered. ..a little chatter but no snirt. .. I was shocked. Those who say the seasons done do not know what they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I went up this weekend with my wife and another couple. The traffic was light this weekend and groomers were out all weekend. thought the trails were great considering the lack of big storms. Most trails were flat and most were white, some of the main trails had some snirt mixed in but there were minimal spots of chatter.
DeleteIf you thought this weekend was junk than sell your sled and quit complaining! The only junk trail was trail 5 ( Its always junk so I dont count that one)
Brett
10:31. Well said. Trail 10 was the best I have seen it. Also confusion flats were FLAT AS FLAT CAN BE! Can't wait for this weekend. Cold temperatures and 8 inches of new snow. BOY OHHHHH BOY!
