March 2014 Storm...........

8:30am  We had light snow in the air last night when I went to bed and this morning we have to 2 to 3 inches on wet snow so far.

11:30am  Up to 5 to 6 inches so far and rate of snow has increased.  Don't forget you can watch at http://www.christysmotel.com/live/.  If it snows like this till Thursday morning, we'll have no problem seeing the 10 to 20 inches predicted.

6:00pm  I'd say we have gotten close to a foot at this time.  It's a little hard to tell as the wind is blowing it around.  But there is no question riding will be good this weekend.

Here's what it's been looking like today

  6. No idea what you are looking at Steve but all forecasts are showing mid 30's Fri and Sat. Trails will be slop. Also Middle to the end of next week will be warm yet again. Highs mid to low 30's.

    1. Yes, depending on which forecast you look at they are showing mid to low 30's. But look at the temps on each side of the high temp and all the days are calling for snow showers or cloudy through the weekend. No sun, so things should hold together. Also the forecasts that had wintery mix or drizzle in them have taken it out. Right now our temps are running 10 plus degrees below the norm. It's not going to last forever, so you better enjoy the fresh foot of snow we just got. Because when it does warm up it's going to go fast, that is for sure.

  7. We have never ridden out of your place before but are thinking about giving it a shot. Do we need a permit to blast over to MRP, Inlet, Perkins Clearing and that area from your place? Do they sell 3 day passes?

    1. If you use the TOW/Inlet trail system you will need a permit. They have a sale on permits right now and you can ride the rest of this year and next for $65.00. You can get to MRP, but you have to do some road riding and this time of the year it's hit and miss at best, with the sun so high in the sky. Because you can leave in the morning and everything is fine, but when you try to return in the afternoon the roads could be toast.

  9. Hey Steve. Wish I could come up and enjoy the trails. WTF is with that guy that says trails will be slop. I don't know how you do it Steve. I've ridden in late March with water pooling on top of the trails and had a blast. Glass is half full baby. Well maybe since its mid march the glass is getting empty.

    1. Because the trails WILL be slop. Mid 30's? You kidding me? Trails are soft when the temp is in the low 20's. And with all the morons blowing snow off the trail in every corner thinking they are cool just makes it a joke.

    2. Some people just like to complain and will never be satisfied.

  10. Steve,

How are the lakes holding up? Still rideable or did the warm up thaw things too much?

    1. Never any way for sure to say how they are. I'd be more concerned about the weight of this new snow and if it pushed down the ice and caused the water to come to the top.

  11. I hope it holds up till Saturday and Sunday. I can't get up there till Saturday morning.
