Old Forge, NY Trail Report 3-6-12

Well the warm up looks like it's going to happen for the next two days.  Then it's back to winter over the weekend and then another warm up.  Everything is in place for SnoFest this weekend and fun should be had by all.  I'm hoping the warm up doesn't hurt the trails to much so they can have the Demo Rides this weekend.

Here's Today's Video for.....

  1. Steve, you have done a superb job of your trail, weather, and video reports this season, (as always). I, for one, will continue to ride and support Old Forge/Inlet trail system and all the businesses that rely on , and support it too. We are going to try and come up for a final ride this weekend, and attend Snofest, (never been to that one).Again, Thank You for all that you do for all us "sledheads" who watch your reports daily.

  3. I am from Pennsylvania. Steve's videos and blogs was the reason i came to old forge twice this year. Last week i was there from 2/29 to 3/4. i had a fantastic time and conditions were excellant for three days and even though conditions got bumpy on the 4th day, saturday i was still happy that i could ride. Pa. had no snow this year so even less then perfect conditions for saturday was very tolerable for me. If this site is used properly to report conditions of the trails, then you will know which areas are the best to ride. when he say the roads are toast there are plenty of areas to ride where you don't need to travel roads. Thanks for giving me the information i needed to decide where to ride and where the best conditions were. DH

  4. Also, with the very limited snow in Old Forge and Inlet, I feel as though both towns did a great job maintaining the trails. So far I have been up twice,(from Rochester), where my clubs trails have been open around 1 day this season, and was very pleased with how many miles we put on. Your trails in rough shape are better than some places are on a "good" day. So also a big THANK YOU !! to all who groom your trails. All the clubs outside of Old Forge/Inlet also a big THANK YOU !! too.

  6. Well done job Steve! If it wasn't for your site we wouldn't really know what to expect regarding the trail conditions as well as the weather. I check your site ritually every night. My family and I travel over 5 hours to OF so your site is a great tool in determining whether we go up or not! Was this season a big disappointment? Without a doubt! But like you would say - at least there was riding to be had. And remember, there's always next year! Kudos for a great job!! And wishful thinking but lets hope for one last great storm of the season! Ya never know!

  8. Steve, I wanna say thanks for all you do. I am a faithful watcher everyday of your videos and reports. I came up monday night from Rochester and stayed overnight so I could get an early start Tuesday morning. People have to use their brain and check the weather reports. When it's above freezing snow melts it gets soft and umgroomable. DUH! But yesterday the trails were very good. Put on 130 miles. Rode up to still water via railroad tracks and beaver river. Tracks were awesome band flat. Rode back to big moose hit a lot od olf forge trails and many small loops in the system that were freshly groomed. Then out towards thendara. I hit a couple of bumpy trails but turned around and easily found nice groomed trails.. All in all was an awesome day. My hats off to the town and grooming crews for making the end of the season a memorable one considering the season we had. And most of all I wanna thank you Steve for all your hard work and keeping us informed. And for all you cry babies here's some tissues and try watching the weather channel.

  9. Steve, My brother and I came up and had the best ride imaginable. We stayed on the trails and they were all groomed beautifully. Blue skies, white smooth trails - it doesn't get any better. Thanks for all the reports this difficult winter. I want to thank you and everyone in Old Forge that provides support and service to the snowmobile trade. The few times I was able to come up with my wife and kids we were very satisfied and grateful for a place to ride.
