Sounds fishy. They want control. That way the town can just shut them down when the conditions suck. Steve, hope you end up with the job and the town pays you handsomely! ReplyDeleteSounds like only the cameras on Town Property (i.e. McCauley). Also sounds like they have already made an agreement with another entity to do just that on McCauley who will be paid. No one asked that question? Stupid people.

Have the local small businesses that realize your traffic is way more beneficial for the local businesses then the beuracracy she is looking for allow you to put up on there property.

Go to the local businesses that realize your web traffic has been way more beneficial to them then the beuracracy she is looking for and ask for permission to mount. No one will go to static web cams. The 25 years I have been watching you, I go for your opinion on conditions. If it was really about safety they would mount there own camera next to yours. Electric is already there. You handled yourself very well in the meeting. As a small business owner I commend you as speaking in that format can be hard to do.

It’s still a bs answer as to why security and liability what kind of liability are they talking about and security please, oh but keep doing what you’re doing screw the security and liability aspect, just until we can find your replacement. DeleteWhat a sh*tty way to inform you of this change. Especially after doing this for FREE for 27 years. I rely on the cameras as well as weather forecasts and your videos to plan my trips to Old Forge. And that trip for me is 900+ miles from Myrtle Beach SC to Old Forge. The town didn't even update the conditions page until late last night. The last post from last season was still up all day on Opening Day. If they can't get that right, they certainly won't be staying on top of camera issues. I get the security issues, but this could've been handled in a more respectful manner. Sorry Steve.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Terrible way to handle, but I am certain it was the lawyers behind this whole thing. Not the Chief nor Security. Of course, I could be wrong. I had a similar thing happen to me on Cape Cod many, many years ago. Steve should have gotten written approval back when but nobody cared back then. Lawyers (Democrats) changed all of that life.
