36 Hours..........

We just got below freezing this morning. But not long enough for it to slow up the melt down.  It's sad to think that just 36 hours ago it was 13 degrees and the best conditions of the season.  I hoping this isn't the end of the riding season for us.  As I'm close to the thousand mile mark and I'd like to hit it.  March can be a great month, with it's wet heavy snow.  So don't put your sled away just yet.

Today's Video...........

  1. They opened the 46 Skybar today at Tony Harpers so many could enjoy the day. They said all team DD sleds are parked until further notice due to the big warm up and excess slop. Is this April 19th?

  2. Getting way too common head-on collisions from Not staying Right, Killing yourself is one thing but taking out an innocent victim is something else.We have a talk before every ride on what to expect out there and on the trail heads that are know raceways we talk about it again " There's people out here trying to KILL YOU STAY Right If you can't see through the turn expect someone to be on your side!!! maybe better signs on the trails there's no real answer and everyone's got there own option but mark my words if there isn't better education about this "They Will Shut it Down" Any loss of life is a loss to us all sad for the families doesn't need to happen.
    Peace-Out

  5. The drag racing on the trails is getting crazy. I am trying to teach my daughter how to ride - and she has been forced off of the trail twice. Crazy how a handful can ruin it for the rest of us. The past three trips I have seen far to many groups riding side by side and not in a lane. Sled is going up for sale - seeing my daughter is enough to keep me wanting to stay alive. The drinking and riding is another problem - where are the check points and speed traps. To many lives lost this year.

    1. Are u speaking of the head on collision in WEST TURIN???!! on a RAIL BED, yeah because that's a wide trail to ride on by IN STATE LOCALS.. Maybe analyze the nature of an accident andcheck out the mechanism of injury before making such claims.... Accidents do happen..

    2. You do NOT wanna start with "papers plz?" U must be out of your mind to ask for that type of control/checkpoints etc.. It doesn't turn out well regardless of what you expect in your intentions.. Other states have tried and it and once you go down that road it "snowballs" into more then what your expecting. Because the govt will then beginto see an additional source of income for the already inflated budgets and will destroy the entire sport in years to come.

    3. Not referring to the head on collision - referring to my experience with trying to teach my daughter. In the past three years - sleds are getting faster and trails are better groomed - results are A holes trying to do 70 on the trail and need to ride left in the turn because they can't control the sled on the right side. Again just saying for those out there trying to make family trips (the one was mid week when she was forced off)

    4. was that an inside left or outside right turn you are referring?!!! Also why would U call ppl names?? U don't know them..

    5. I know them and they A holes I think I know you too !!! and being left is just that wrong side of the trail I believe he meant to say "Correct" side, You know to think about I do know you !!

    2. The PPL or whoever above has a Point maybe. Do we really wanna listen to fellow riders who want to name call. That's kinda silly. Keep it friendly there angry person. Maybe teach your young riders off trail before you take them out for the full experience to better prepare them. That could be considered bad parenting.Although I truly don't think conditions are nearly as bad as people claim they are. I mean come on. Lok at the actuall accident statistics. Youd probably have a better chance travelling west towards Syracuse in getting into an accidenet then you would on say Pipeline or trail one. Although Ive heard people suggest that mayb some inner trails be marked similar to SKI slopes. Using The Color code (that's not POC, by the way for you liberal SWs. Wouldt it be cool to take the kids around wheelers pond or similar GO NOWHERE trails guided or maked for specific types of riding say for kids in this instance??? Sounds cool to me ID take My kids who are upcomers just for that experience beforegetting on the BIG girl Bumble bee sled... Just a Thought.. Other then that. I agree lets keep the police cruisers away befotre they see handing ojut tickets as a bonus or quota status for the very few months if not weeks we have to ride..

  7. I usually head out around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I am real careful it's the guy going first was risking his life we try to take time there are close calls every time people riding on the left side I don't really feel safe until it's dark then I can see the sled that's going to hit me

  8. Funny thing is police won't go out on the trails they sit with there SUV blocking trails (entrapment) for instance trail 1. Go out and do patrols like years past on the trails no the cops Dec and troopers all set up at trail 1 and rondaxe rode just waiting with lazyness. Believe it or not being a retired cop you can't actually be sitting where these guys are its pure entrapment they know your coming or going just like a cop sitting near a bar. There really walking a fine line with the snowmobiling community one person that knows something in court would have there a**. Do patrols on the trails and enforce the rules out there not at the trail heads.

    1. Are U willing to double or triple registration, insurance, and trail permit prices?? If so that's fine. While we are at it lets ask for extreme enforcement on weekends and double duty triple manpower staffing and equipment. I think we should have the govt hire more staffing to cover the cost of Overtime that way there wont be Overtime instead we'll just have reg pakid staffing whicbh comes with outfitting equipment and more insrance that will need to be covered by U KNOw who JOIHNNYYYYY TAX PAYERRR come on down Empty Your wallet... U asked for it We shall deliver

    2. It has nothing to do with prices of anything if the law enforcement would go out and hit the trails and do what their there to do That's one thing sitting at your patrol cars at trail heads is another and pure lazy we pay for patrols on trails not and the start / end of trails I have yet to see police on patrol on sleds anywhere in the TOW trail system end of story has nothing to do with prices get out of your cars get on sleds and do your jobs that is what we partially pay for

    3. WHO the heck are you to say that troopers or Local LEO are not enforcing or doing the job they are sworn into... You are so typical of many critics of LEOs. WHy don't you try doing the job. Not for a day, or week, but a year or 2. See what type of training and daily training and constant vigilance it takes. Before you start mouthin g off abojut little crime in the Herkimer county and surrounding area has to enforce why don't you learn a bit about the job before you complain. Better yet, take up some volunteer work yourself in your own community or even upstate N Y in any capacity related to what you claim to be so opinionated about. Ya still think ya know me, or anyone else here?

  9. That is one sad state of affairs up there..So glad I rode when I did. we almost bagged last week and planned for next week...so tired of hearing about these crashes and loss of life. Only takes a split second and one careless rider to snuff out a life. I ride fast as well but I see guys that have no business being on a sled...there's a time to squeeze and a time to lay off...nuff said.
