Making up..............

With the amount of people that are in town this weekend, I'm guessing everyone is trying to make up for lost time from last season.  The last picture uploaded at Stillwater today showed a full parking lot.  I'm not sure what's going on with the webcam up there, but I'm not able to log into it and it stopped uploading this afternoon at 12:27.   I'll give Joe a call after things quiet down and see if we can't get it back on line soon.  Brenda, Jenny and everyone else that inquired about no post yesterday.  Sorry, but I ran out of hours in the day and didn't get to it.

Today's Video..........

  1. Sad to hear people are treeing their sleds. Need to slow down for sure! Above all, don't even try to keep up with Team DD as they are professional factory Arctic Cat riders.

  3. It's a dam shame that there was loss of life this weekend. This should never happen !!. I've been riding up there 15 years and if I had to I could make it over to brattingham in 45 minutes but WHY??..Weekends up there are just out of hand. People don't use hand signals to alert oncoming riders...Most people that ride weekends don't know how to scan out 300 yards at all times. People need to be alert more than they are...I'm an experienced rider and my wife and I just don't feel safe on weekends anymore...Damn shame....

    1. My group was in Daikers last night and we overheard several riders saying they were coming down trail 5 at 100 in the open areas. And they were all drinking.... I'll NEVER be back on the weekends.

  5. AMEN stuff even happens when you aren't going fast. God and my angels got my attention last Monday. These sleds are so powerful they need your utmost respect at all times. Thank you for those guys who came along and helped me last Monday. I send my condolences to the family who lost a loved one. Yes I agree we all need to SLOW DOWN and use are hand signles.

  6. There making the engins in the sleds too big for trail condition & got rid of the lower end for family riders
I think keeping both hands on the bars is safer then hand signals as you may no know how many sled are coming up be hind you
As for Team DD they never show any pictures of themself or their sled so are they for real or do we care
If they are riding fast as they post they are some of the as* holes that are driving this sport dowm JMHO

  8. Stay right and stay safe...
I been riding snowmobiles for 25years in old Forge& tug hill and every year more people come up to in joy the sport and the didn't take a safety class or know how to let people know that there someone in there group.I think new York should make all of us get license. Like they do for a motorcycle and must take a class because it's a privilege to ride them. I was up riding Saturday morning and was gone by 2pm because I didn't feel safe

  11. Yup... typical skidoo riders. They don't slow down for nothing or put hand signals up. I broke down in the trail one time up in moose river plains and these two guys in a skidoo came ripping passed me.. didn't slow down or nothing. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Have a little common sense guys!!

  12. The use of hand signals has been debated over and over. They provide a false sense of security. Best to stay right with both hands on the "wheel".....always.

  13. Keep your hands on the bar so you have control. Many times I have a rider give the last sled signal with another group right behind them that they are not aware of.If you want to signal get the lights for your sled.
And Team DD is NOT associated with Arctic Cat!!!

  14. Keep your hands on the handlebars, and control your snowmobile....enough said.

  16. Everyone has a valid point and valid concerns. I have been riding since a teenager. I have been riding The Hill and Old Forge for 20 years. I no longer ride the HILL just Old Forge but during the week. After everyones valid comments and valid concerns am going to try and become a better rider by FIRST slowing down, respect and treat my powerful sleds as if they are like an automobile, no drinking while I am riding, let others know who is behind me, and when I see others see a thumbs up from the stopped sled(s) before I move on. A special thank you to all of those groomers, club officers, volunteers, and land owners that help keep all of us safe and having fun.

  17. its not so much the experienced riders that are the problem , its when you have a lot of inexperanced riders and they are more concerned about hand signals then staying rite . if your in a group and you are all together the sleds in the middle need to stay focused on the sled in front and that's all

  18. Saw your dd guys in Indian Lake sat. evening. Don't think they ride the forge on weekends just moose plains.

  20. The hand signal debate rages on. I am not sure what I prefer but the problem with hand signals is there is always another rider or group of riders coming so what is the point? Seriously it gives the leader a false sense of security and to top it off if the trail is choppy you now have only one hand on the bars. I think if everyone stays right and assumes that there is always head on traffic then that would be more effective then hand signals. Just my opinion.

  21. To the poster who thinks NY should make snowmobile riders get a license - maybe you shouldn't be allowed to post to the Internet until you take an English class. It's unbelievable how many people come on snowmobile forums to spout how perfect and respectable they are, yet they have no clue how to write or speak the English language. At what age did you quit school??
As far as hand signals - when my riding partner and I were on the hill this weekend, should I have held up zero fingers because I was the last one in our group or should I have pulled over to see how many were in the group behind us so I could do it accurately?? How about when we were going through 8 foot wide winding trails in the woods and asshats pulled their hand off the bars to signal and almost hit my left ski because they were not in control of their sled?
For Christ sake, just use common sense and always assume there is another sled coming around the next corner.

.....and it's never ok to start a sentence with "I seen...."

    1. WInner winner . Excellent Post. THo I do believe there are to may amateurs out there complaining..Its a SPORT as many say. I do believe that lights are probably the best answer. Tho as U said ya never know how close the group is behind you. As for licensing BLAH BLAH BLAH. Like this SPORT needs red tape... Ughhh some people shouldn't ride if they cant hack it... Like a said its a sport as everyone will agree. So maybe if theyre so concerned they should slow down. Not ruin everyone elses fun..
