Even worse.....

By the way things are looking, it's going to get even worse, before we may see anything to get excited about.  So what's everyone been doing, since you haven't been getting in any seat time?  If it's something interesting, how about sharing and giving the rest of us some thoughts on what to do during these boring winter days.

Today's Video................

  1. I should have made this comment yesterday, Back in the seventies when I started to go to Old Forge the normal depth of the base on the trails was ten to twenty inches, and that usually was from Christmas week till April. When did the trails of Old Forge last have a base of those depths?

    1. well they would have that much depth during a normal season. You didnt have nearly the traffic back then that we have now. The traffic kills the base.

    3. You young people have no idea what it was like back then. Had more snow than you knew what to do with, it was a winter wonderland

    4. I remember back in the 70's (6yrs old) riding from speculator to old forge the amount of snow that was on the ground was amazing.

    5. Never liked crossing the railroad trestle going to Beaver River, that was before the trail was put in around it and it wasnt groomed. It was a hard ride but had alot of fun.

  2. Last week W, TH and Fri, found snow from Flatrock to Barnes Corners. Trailer from OF to the Hill for the first time. Trails were groomed and put on a couple hundred miles. It was a PIA to trailer back and forth...but we did ride.

  4. I was thinking about doing the same thing with trailering over to the timberview but now even that is in jeopardy..the rain will destroy any sliver of base that is out there now...maybe snow next week...it's been tough to handle this disappointing winter...mother nature has really dealt us a bad blow this year...the worst I've seen in my 14 years coming to OF...When the hell was the last time we had no riding in February???

    1. You got that right douglas. I have 2 older machines. Last year dumped a grand on maintenance for both sleds and rode once. That's not including the 700 for permits, registration, insurance ect. For NY,NJ.
We were stuck in jersey digging out from
record snow fall last year. This year 600 down the toilet. Sleds rotting on the trailer.

  7. Ha ha...I'm one of the lucky ones whom doesn't have to buy stabilizer and go through the entire maintenance process on our sleds...cause thanks to Mother rotten Nature and her side kick El Nino, our sleds never left the garage this season! Yipppee Kai Yeyyyyyy

  11. 366 miles of riding in the area so far. My worst was 500 over the decades of riding in OF. It's not looking good but ya have to be ready to go at the last minute if you want to ride. I think we will get a few more shots at it.

  12. So where does all that money go they are saving from not having to groom the trails? Perhaps they will send everyone some sort of rebate? Lower the fee for next year? Donate it to help fund the presidential campaigns or climate change initiatives?

  19. I've been riding my ATV and cutting firewood for next year. We have also watched some videos of the snows we had back in the 60's. Young folks today wouldn't believe how much snow we used to get back then. Remember crossing the road and stepping over the top of the phone wires the banks were so high. SOme say it's all cyclical, I sure can't wait until the next cycle if it is. Hope I make it that long.

  21. Had a great mid week ride in Maine. Caught Bruce Springsteen in Hartford Ct. on a Wednesday night , stayed over and drove up to West Forks Maine and rode Thursday and Friday. Put on 225 miles pretty quick and back in Jersey Saturday afternoon. Only ride this winter and missing Old Forge big time!
