Calm before..................

If there's any truth to the saying "the calm before the storm"  It's going to be one heck of a week, because it was pretty calm around town this weekend.  But if we get the snow they are predicting, I don't think it will be calm long.

Today's Video...............

  1. Steve, like the daily posts. My 5 year old boys love watching the videos. I am frustrated as to why trail 6 hasn't been groomed once this year. My group rides from Forestport and enjoys OF trails more so than the Hill. But Saturdaya ride on trail 6 was horrible. I was told 3 weeks ago it wasn't groomed because of lack of snow. But after 4-6 inches of new snow and cold temps friday, I'm not buying it. I mean TracksideBlazers (Forestport) has been grooming there trails... All other trails in OF system has been groomed. I know 6 isn't a major hub, but come on, we pay for the permit just like everyone else and 6 is a major entrance way to OF. Very frustrated. I enjoy taking my family to OF.

    1. I have to agree, It seems 6 has been rough for years now, used to be a nice ride. But on a good note, trails were in really nice shape this weekend after the late week snow.

    2. Seems like a legit question, the man buys permit and wants to spend money in old forge, so why is it not groomed, I'm sure it has real snow just like trackside trails

    3. because you don't need a permit like trail 10 trail 5 and 4 they are the last to be groomed.then again no base and no snow groomers out no drags just trying to pack it down before the sleds tear it up no base in feb it's over !!!!

    4. You will NEVER find the trails today like there were 20+ years ago
      1st not enough snow
2nd too many ripping up what is there
Comes down to lack of respect by today's riders
Everybody want the best trails but they the groomers got to work with what they have and putting up with those that as soon as the groomer goes by they rip it
Too many A Hoes out there today JMO

    6. You need a permit to ride trail 6. Only way you can go through OF without a permit is if you ride the RR tracks.

    7. NOT NEXT TO 28 THAT IS A INTERCONNECTING TRAIL FROM THE TERSSLE TO OTTER LAKE!

    8. OS is 100% correct. Way too many kids destroying the trails. Absolutely no reason to spin your track up and down the entire trail. But these kids think its cool. Then they are the first to complain why the trails are so bad.

    9. Not correct. You do NOT need a trail pass to ride on the Indian lake trails. MRP and Indian lake are NOT part of the inlet system.

    10. Do u guys think back in the 80,s 90,s there weren't a few hotshots, I'm sure there was just like now but 98 percent of riders r respectful, maybe u whiners should pack it in

  2. Your not the only one saying that we rode all the trails around old forge saterday Indian lake inlet big moose and all their trails were groomed nice as soon as we jumped onto old forge trails it turned to junk we have a big group we ride with when we go it's 15 to 20 of us and we all but the old forge pass but this year seems to be lack of grooming and can't say because of snow because every body else around old forge below and above was groomed so what's the issue with that

    1. your not buying an old forge pass its the town of web inlet pass which you also need to ride all the places you mention (Indian lake inlet big moose ) its all the same system i was there over the weekend trails were flat rally don't know what you expect considering the snow they have to work with ps read your trail pass grab a map and look what the web/inlet trail system is before you bash it

  3. Steve I agree with renegade 3, what's the deal with trail 6 to mckeever. Seems the town doesnt groom it. I was appreciative that it was groomed halfway to mckeever this week, but why not all the way. I just purchased a camp in otter lake and use this trail as my way to old forge. I've emailed the town and am waiting for a response. I've heard that they won't groom until trackside grooms the tracks up to thendara, yet there is a trail on the other side of mckeever bridge that connects to otter lake and south. The lack of snow cannot be the issue, as they did actually groom halfway or so and as stated before trackside has been grooming. Very frustrated. Any info is appreciated...thanks for all you do!

    1. like 817 said no base and no snow on the narrow trails not even enough to pull into the middle.now if you have noticed the last few years all the trails are brown trail 10 last year from rondaxe rd to big moose rd all brown everybody is pulling slop from the roads into the trails.with all that salt in it you wiil never have a base just like trail 5 where it runs along 28.

    3. town of web inlet pass which its called not old forge pass doesn't cover mckeever thats why they don't groom there

  4. It does seem that OF does not want sleds to leave town. I guess they don't want them coming in either. It was a nice loop to go down to Forestport & on to Boonville & back around to OF. Been riding up there for 40 years & even with newer trail equipment all is not better.

  5. Can't wait going up Monday the 9 th and staying in old forge till sat 14 th. Hope the most snow possible comes from this round of snow . Too any volunteer or paid employee operating a piston bully or any kind of groomer it's go time baby . Obviously the gas fund for those things is chock full rite now at this point in the season so let's show em what we've got !!! No base they say ! Huh let's see it after the mogul masters have had their way with the trails like tucker hibbert at sno cross this year . North street groomers out of forge always kick ass and deliver no matter what they have the most equipment and newest too boot. Don't see anyone anywhere else running 3 piston bully's deep all pulling mogul masters dominating the trails. Just one of many reasons why old forge is the best. As for any saying the winters now are not what they were 20 years ago very true . This year has been ok so far should drastically turn around by the beginning of next week .

  7. Can't groom trail 6 or any other trails for that matter because all the groomers are tied up going back and forth grooming north street to make it look good.

If its great I ride, if it's good I ride , fair I ride snow like substance consisting of dirt rock and snow I ride . Understand my definition of ok is obviously different than yours . This is coming from the guy that will just go to big moose and buy a new sled at will just because. Hope your season gets better and no worries everyone has an opinion
