Quiet one.............

It's been a quiet day around town, when it comes to sled traffic.  But after looking at the cams in other areas around the region, I'd say it just about the same everywhere.  We're all looking for a fresh shot of snow.  I do have two rooms in and I'll give you an update tomorrow after talking to them tonight.

Today's Video............

  1. well I can say this, trail 5 has ZERO base in most areas. You are down to dirt. Not snirt, DIRT!! I have no idea what everyone is talking about having enough snow for slide lube. The inners have plenty for that but not nearly enough for good grooming. Huge holes. Thats OF trademark for the last 5 years. Hole galore. MRP was the only good riding over the weekend.

  3. Did anybody watch the X-Games on Sunday. Congratulations to Tuker Hibbert and Arctic Cat for winning the gold medal in Snocross. That makes it 8 years in a row. Watching that race reminds me of myself taking trail 4-A to 4 from my camp in Hollywood Hills to the inner trail system. Anybody who watched the race and uses that part of the trail system knows what I am talking about. And thank you Anonymous for posting the most accurate trail report I read this season on the blog.

  4. Everybody gives reports on trails 5,1,2, which are normally bad. Trail 4 should be the trail that should have a report, it is the main trail to the lakes from the main trail system and for the people that have Camps in Hollywood Hills to get to the OF trails and usually its a washboard.

  5. Spent three days in and around Old Forge, Saturday through Monday. Spent the previous week in Quebec so yes I know what snow looks like. I was surprised to see as much snow as I did reading from this blog. My wife a daughter enjoyed themselves very much. I hit pretty much every trail and found more than enough snow. Sure the snow is tired but the few inches here and there are keeping things decent. Yes 4 was bumpy and I'm guessing not being groomed to preserve the base? Trails 2, 3, 5(along 28), 10 all good. Even getting in and out of town was good. I did see snirt from time to time but my sleds did not seem to mind. The only place I saw I temp light was on a lake. If you want to ride like you stole it there are better places. If you want to enjoy what's left of winter you most certainly can do it in Old Forge. Over 1,200 miles so far and all I've done is add oil and gas.

  6. Anonymous must have been still in Quebec when he wrote his blog about riding the Old Forge trails. I could agree the inner trails were rideable but 5,1,2,and 10 were ungroomable nothing but dirt and a few places snirt.

    1. yep. He is 100% making that up. Trail 5 was almost pure dirt. He said it was fine. That alone tells me his report cant be trusted at all.

    2. Well MOST people ride those trails. Those are the most important trails in OF. WIthout them you cant get anywhere. And for the camps in the hills that is only a tiny percentage of sleds that ride the trails.

  7. I rode trail 5 on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. From Daikers past Eagle Bay there was plenty of snow. It was snirty but there was no scraping. It was groomed each night. From Daikers to the start of trail 9 it was much worse. Grooming was not going to help that section but still no sparks and no high temps. For those that say there is not enough snow go to the hill.

    1. there ISNT enough snow. You cant find a single person to agree with you and say OF has enough snow. Need a good foot to bring things around.

    1. To be fair I will tell you there is snow of course. But most of the main trails are snirt, dirt or ash. You have to stay on the inners or MRP for "decent" snow cover.
