Lowest so far................

We went down to 28 below this morning.  That is the coldest for this year so far and I hope we see some more of them.  It's hard on the fuel bill, but it sure does freeze things down nice.  I replaced the covered bridge camera at the info center this morning.  I'm sure you noticed, the one that was there was fuzzy and needed to go.

On the lake subject....there is no way of ever knowing if they are safe or not.   They can change from one day to the next.  So please don't ask or tell people to go on them.

Today's Video................

  1. Steve you do by far the best honest comments on conditions . Keep up your great work.

    1. Until you Dave I never thought anybody should be banned. You're changing my mind on that with all the crap you foster. Truth is there isn't near enough yet for good riding. If any number of sleds hit what is out there it will be toast in a hour. All you need to look at is the web cams. Very little cover on Main St., Rec. Center very little cover around the rocks, and Point park has picked up some snow banks, but still not showing a lot of cover. The groomers in yesterdays video seem to working the plowed snow into the trails on the sides of North St., couldn't really tell if they went beyond the bridge. Further more I don't believe the one pulling the logs could get across the bridge as they looked too wide and didn't appear to be a way to lift them. Some improvement, and if the guesscast for today and tomorrow hits the upper end (~18") for lake effect that would be great. As it stands now things are rough as there hasn't been enough fluff to cover the rocks, bare spots, and ice that remained from last weekend.

  3. I enjoy Dave's comments at least he's optimistic, not complaining about the plows doing what they're supposed to do.

    1. He is not posting opinions on the conditions. He keeps saying every other day there is a big snow storm that just hit. Keeps posting false information.

    2. the snow sticks show about 5" of total snow on the ground. Kinda slim for riding.

    1. Dave is honest and tells it how it is? Here is the report from the towns website.
Today is Friday, January 9th at 8:00am.

We have received about 2 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours.

The Towns of Webb and Inlet Snowmobile Trails are in fair condition, with minimal coverage in some areas.

Yeah thats a big storm alright. He is making up lies and posting them. Prob wouldn't be such a big deal if you live up there. But most of us drive 5hrs plus to get there. We depend on forums like these for honest trail information. With jerks like him and you there is no reason to have this forum. You kids are just in denial that OF needs ALOT more snow for "decent" riding.

    2. Your right . I drove 5 hours ,rode to daikers had a few and came back. Now the trails are tost because a few people rode on them and ruined it for everyone. Sorry guess we'll see you next year. NOT trails are fine.

  8. Everyone has different expectations of good conditions. If you sat arouned and waited for " in your eyes of good conditions " How much will you get to ride? Unfortunately our climate is changing , that being said, what was once fair is now the new good. I'm not trying to pump, nor am I feeding dying plants. This is how it is , extreme cold to warm ups that ruin everything. I am optimistic and I hope conditions only get better. Ride safe and stay right

    1. Are you joking? In "our" eyes of good conditions? The TOW rates the conditions as fair. Learn what that is. It says explains it on their site. What was once fair is now the new good? You really say the dumbest things. The snow will come. But guys like you just ruin it for everyone else because you cant wait a week or so.
I hope you know how conditions improve. Sounds like you really don't have any idea. You must be a kid.

  9. Looks like Old Forge misses out again, snowband heading north. The weekend warriors are gonna shred that 3 inches in no time...enjoy

  10. Everyone is eager to ride. The minute there is enough snow, a thousand sleds pound the trails to shreds. You can have mint conditions early on a saturday morning and come back from MRP or the Pine Tree and barely survive the moguls on trail 1. But the next day you go out and do it again, because you love it. You're a snowmobiler. Year after year. I wish life was a freshly groomed trail that goes on forever. But it's not. Be grateful for the good times. See you on the trails..
