Nice weekend to be in the area............

We had below zero temps the last two mornings and yesterday the high was 8.  My guess would be that those who came to the area this weekend have had some good riding conditions to enjoy.

Today's Video for..........

  1. so I will tell you tonite I am planning on heading to Old Forge this Fri night to ride Sat sun mon...for what will be my first trip back in 3 years, Im gonna gamble that the trails will be...lets just say "enjoyable". Im reasonable and not expecting weekday conditions on snofest weekend...but its not a rock maple snowcross either. after almost 20 years of trail permits in OF I pulled the plug 3 years ago honestly because I thought the grooming sucked...especially late season, probably cuz the groomers didn't leave the barn but twice in 3 days,i never saw a groomer anywhere. TOW has a lot to prove to me this weekend, trail permit or not...this is the SNOFEST..."BUY NEXT SEASONS PASS AND RIDE FREE REST OF THIS SEASON"....my wife misses the village so were loading 4 sleds and driving 250miles...if it sucks im never coming back. maybe someone who reads this blog puts word out, people pay for a trail pass expect groomed trails...at least to see a groomer, theres like 4 in the barn no bs excuses too wet too cold too thin. you want people to come back then prove it. good luck to all happy and safe this weekend.FYI I was a seasonal renter with 6 other people for probably the last 10 seasons prior to 2011..if my ride is good this weekend I plan on another seasonal rental next year for my family, giving TOW another chance. Lets see how many groomers everybody sees this weekend and how the trails look.

    2. I'm afraid you will be disappointed. I've been riding OF for years. The groomers seem to do the best they can for weather conditions and the snow available. If you want good conditions you need to ride midweek when it's cold with single digits for the high, not a warm (low 30s) event weekend like is coming up. I'm heading up tomorrow morning but will leave Saturday by noon.

    3. go up to the hill if you want to ride! moved my sleds up there this year. if your wife want's to come to the village take the truck because that's the only way to get around up here in the winter anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    5. Just made a call and as it stands now there will be three groomers out on each shift this weekend.

    6. years ago there was nothing to rent after sept now it is a losing proposition. stay in a motel close to the trails! because you'll never get past the driveway 90 % of the time. I know first hand.

    7. That's odd because I've been riding from the motel all winter. Except for the 13 days when we had a melt down in January.

  3. Funny, myself and a group of 7 sleds rode to Indian Lake, and on the way I was saying to myself I will never complain about the TOW trail permits again. The groomers do a great job in the TOW area. Proof of that is when you leave and cross the line to Indian Lake and the whoops and ruts begin. Trail 5 was it's usually self, but other than that, trails were very good and smoothe. note: we ride in the 30-50 mph range and rode 125 miles on Saturday alone..

  4. Not sure why some of these people are even in this sport all they do is cry and bitch. Yes conditions always vary due to amount of snow or due to volume of traffic etc. If you don't like it don't go, or go somewhere else. For the most I think the trails have been pretty decent all year and I go every weekend and some mid week into the weekend. And by the way what was that big red thing towing that long blue thing around the trails this weekend

  6. When you call yourself "the snowmobile capitol of the east" I guess that comes with certain expectations.
