Isn't looking good............

Well it isn't looking all that good after last night's R.  But remember, a week and a half ago, we went from no trail conditions at all, to pretty good conditions in a matter of a few days.  Will it happen again, who knows, let's hope so.  I can tell you, that even after the R last night, we are in better shape than we were last year at this same date.

Today's video for..............

  1. Wow, in a little over 24 hours OF has went from winter wonderland to winter wasteland. Worst part is it is far from over. In a strech of hard rain now with lots to follow on the radar, plus half an inch or so called for tomorrow. What a waste of good snow. Big difference between Steve's comparision of last year and this year. Last year there were back to back storms in the 3-4 days before Christmas and the town was buried by the 25th. Things were on the upswing then, this year is the downswing with no end in sight. MAKE IT STOP!

    2. Are you kidding me? Cant you hear what steve said. We are still ahead of the game since last year. The town was buried by the 25th? What planet are you on? Last year was the worst year in a VERY long time. Terrible season.

    3. To the not so smart person at 3:07 PM, last year was a good year from Christmas through the end of March. Two seasons ago was the worst ever, but you don'r seem able to grasp very much.

    5. To the not so smart person at 4:53 PM, last year was a terrible year. Very little snow and when we had snow it lasted for a short time until it rained time and time again. Worst year ever.

    6. Put the sleds away? What? Most people didnt even take them out yet. The season dosent really start until January.

In those days It was serious bumps my parents took me thru the trails on a citation LS with a broken gas tank cap for many trips in the late 80s early nineties. Grooming sucked back then.. Im serious about how u were diagnosed and treated. Im ten years younger I can be reached at diesj@aol donbt be d heads readers..

  6. We rode 145 Miles yesterday. Big Moose. Daikers. Pine tree. The roads and Trail 5 were bad. Inner trails were great. There was 3ft of snow in the woods. This will hurt but the base will be Cement..

  7. If you stop renting 12k homes 7 miles down south shore road you will find that the trails (snow, woods, NON maintained roads) are not as bad as the nutjobs say they are. I road 2600 miles last year, one set of hyfax and one set of skegs... and every week there was some moron complaining on here that most likely was sitting on their couch watching the radar instead of having a resourceful opinion. Its a long season, get it while you can, and when you can't ride a barstool and keep your worthless comments to yourself. Merry Christmas.

  8. We were up last night...clicked of 50 miles or so with showers on and off believe or not the trails weren't bad at all.....although temps came up higher by morning and rained pretty steady through the day!...I hate to say by the end of the day monday mostn of it will be gone there is just too much r. But its only december and cold temps for next week give it some time and the snow pack will rebuild.

  9. As a observer that cant ride..till 2015 ..Just be patient..as long as the temps crash Monday, and stay below 32..ANY thing is and will be... possible.

    1. Seems like many of you people have poor memories or just like to gripe. Last year wasn't hit or miss. It was a late start with no real snow until the back to back storms in the 5 days leading up to Christmas. There was a bad warm up in late January and early March both followed by big snows that fixed things up nice. The trails were good right to March 31 with the roads what you would expect in late March. Things now suk, but quit with the whinning about last year or some other year. Every year is different with good and bad streches, some years more one than the other. If you haven't got it through your head yet we aren't going to have book end winters like years back. Deal with it.

      Delete
    2. well said ! the only people that have a gripe are the business people! with the weather. the days of coming up here and riding for a week are long gone!!! even then you live here you're lucky to get two days in a row with the roads sanded @ plowed to death. because without them you can't get to the trails or out of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Delete
    3. there should be somemention of the salt and sanding. the snow is different in the adk then areas south . Its really way over whats needed whats next? Pre treating the roads?? . Ive rode and driven since the 70s in the adk and never had problems driving except being slowed down by driving behind a plow truck witch was a blessing in the old days... No accidents.. The salt and sand and brine is outta control and unnecessary ... people who drive up know the risks theres no reason for it. Very dry snows which mean its less slick.. That's why u can get around without 4x4

      Delete
    4. the roads are pre treated now ! he does it every time it snows. the other day dusting 6 below that night sand it again.when the roads turn to slop at 18 with no sun you know he made another hot batch.
