I may have found the answer.............

The condition of the roads seem to be an on going debate each year and it really is getting old.  So I think I may have found an answer, on what some people find issue with, when it comes to how the roads are plowed and sanded.  Please watch today's video for my thoughts on this matter.  If anything you'll get a laugh out of it.

Today's Video for...........

  1. Steve I think ur right on about the highway dept n what people say. They have to keep the roads clear n safe n they do a hell of a job keeping the trails in tip top shape so if some one thinks they can do a better job move on up n run for highway super! Keep up the good work Steve

    3. Nobody gonna go to OF because of the plowed roads? LOL Last I knew the trails are in the woods, not the road. NO reason to ride the roads anyway. Keep your sled in the woods. Stillwaters has a trail now. Be happy you have trails to ride on.

    4. I have a Camp in Hollywod Hills, and I need to ride Hollywood Hills Road to get to the Trails, as well as others who have Camps in Hollywoods Hill, and to top it off when you get to Trail 4 it is a washboard to Trail 5.

  5. Anyone out there riding can tell me what the conditions are? And I mean are there huge bumps everywhere or is it decently smooth? I know snow is a little scarce.

Lets not forget about keeping the roads safe. Emergency vehicles have to get to an emergency safely so they can Rescue NJSNONUT....

  9. They make new carbides & hifax every day!, some road riding is all part of the sport. It happens. Small price to pay considering the amount of nicely Groomed trail you are proveledged to ride on every year.

  10. In the seventies and eighties the roads were sanded safely, but were only sanded in the middle, with no accidents that I can recall. I realize safety is first, but when the Town relies on the snowmobilers for their economy in the Winter they should plow and salt to please everybody, residents and snowmobilers. I have been going to Old Forge since 1973 snowmobileing and a Camp owner since 1987 and I saw a lot of different conditions with the roads, that pleased everybody residents and snowmobilers, but it depended who the Road Superviser was.

    4. I have been riding in old forge since 76 also. Is anything the same as was 37 years ago? Think about it. I'm just happy to still be able to come up and enjoy it. Every day is a gift. Have fun. Happy Trails!

    5. Please don't blame the "greenies". Any environmentalist worth his salt (pun intended) will fight tooth and nail against the heavy use of salt on the roads.

More likely the whingers are the rich-a$$ed idiots that don't have the sense to own a "mountain car" but insist on driving their precious new $60,000 Lexus Fake-UV into the ADK's and have no experience driving in bad conditions. I'm originally from Western PA and we always made great sport counting the new Jeeps with crumpled front ends after the fist snow. "Go" does not equal "stop" in the $hit.

  11. Wasn't only in the seventies, as recently as the 80's Big Moose Rd. was plowed and sanded down the middle and the shoulders were left alone with the exception of plowing. For some reason south shore road is not killed by the trucks plowing and salting so what is the difference? Steve, your suggestion of moving up and running for office is just as silly as the guys and gals on here whining. Take it for what it is folks and enjoy what you get, it won't change

  12. Noone can defend the salting and brine. Vehicles these days handle bad weather way better then way back in the day.. what is the driving force for gettings roads bare?? Its a joke. Plus the snow is much drier then most of the NE coast which makes it safer. The salting and brine is ridiculous. Throw that sand miz down again. Ive been at it for 20 plus years up there. The worst drivers are south in the mtros. because of the wets snow in NYC and NJ/ Philly.. Like many have said Its a morale buster even if u commute from 200 feet to a trail or partial access Like Hollywood or south shore. Locals need to get it if u are the ones bitching. tho if locals are bitching chances are ur food served will be spit in. So why bother knowing we're not welcome, simply for asking just sand .. whats the numbers on accidents that were dangerous from now to back in the day????? I doubt the salt has improved life safety anyone investigate that??

  13. why is NJsno nut under attack?? I don't know the guy but it seems he or she defends the area?? whats that about?? He she talks the truth.. The sanding needs to come back and its probly cheaper as well..
