At 3pm we are warmer than the predicted high of 42, it's 46 and we still have time for it to go higher, before the temp starts to drop for the day.  There's a good amount of people, getting in that last ride of the season and enjoying SnoFest at North Street.

  8. Well, what can I say,my wife Kim and I have been coming to Christys for I guess 20 years or when we use to put on 200 miles a day until 2 oclock in the morning,we had not been there for a couple years due to trips to Maine. We came Thursday through Saturday and during a little break staring up at the stars we both felt like we were we at home.the trails were awesome if you know to look and the hospitality was the same. Thank You , Steve Just a note my wife and I were on the Arctic Cat test ride when the SNO PRO 9000 burst into flames right in front of us,we had to help put the fire out. but do not worry help is on the way,YAMAHA knows how to build engines and we both enjoyed the ride the ZR provided.See ya, Walt and Kim.

    1. I think we were on a few of those trips with you gazing at the stars... Thats when you put on 200 miles, had your bottle of advil in your pocket and had to pry yourself out of bed the next day in pain. Remember the days when the groomers had the big roller in tow to pack the trails. Times have sure changed but things were much simpler back then but the hospitality is still great as you said. Steve, thanks so much for the awesome and accurate reports. It sure makes you feel in touch with what's going on when you live hundreds of miles away. Walt, always knew you would be on a cat one day even though it has a Yamaha under the hood... LOL. Rod and Becky

  9. Bad day to be a bear in Old Forge. Was up to McCauley with kids before heading out and a small bear showed up at the hill. Poor thing didn't look great, probably why it's out early. Was hardly moving and certainly no danger to anybody. The wildlife "experts" at the Webb PD took care of that and killed it on the slope. DEC was on the way, shame they couldn't wait for someone with knowledge to arrive and decide if the bear could be saved.

    1. I made some calls on this and wanted to give you an update. It's my understanding this bear didn't weigh much more than 50 lbs and had mange to the point that it had very little fur left on it. The police tried to chase it off, but it won't leave the area and had problems even trying to lift it's head up. They put it down because it was suffering. The DEC did show up later on this afternoon and after seeing how badly it had mange and it's low weight, agreed that it had to be put down.

    1. It is sad. But sometimes it's the best thing for the animal.

    2. yes it is the best thing to do in some cases and they would not have shot it if it wasn't that sick . so on to other things .
