Could make it better.........

The mixed bag of weather that will be in the area on Monday could make things even better.  Just as long as we don't get to much R and most of the stuff falling from the sky is frozen.  But I do have to say, that this new snow has frozen up pretty tight, all on it's own.

Today's Video for.................

  1. Came across the samething on a corner in Forestport on Saturday afternoon. If I hadn't stop I would've T-Boned the 3rd guy in the group as he was completely sideways on the corner in my lane. Like you said "there's a time and place"!

    1. In all the years of riding from OF to the pine tree i've never seen cops set up in that area. Just because you buy a permit doesn't give you the right to kill. Slow down, enjoy the ride. Life is short. Happy trails.......

  4. Ride safe, my friends!...glad you are mentioning and actually pointing out examples of reckless riding...It is a major concern...I always try to get out very early in the morning and squeeze-in most of my riding before a good deal of these careless types get out there. I find the safest times on the trails are between sun-up and noon on the weekends (Friday, Saturday & Sunday,) and almost any time Monday through Thursday. At least most of the Old Forge trails are pretty wide, which helps keep even the reckless safe...Ride safe, my friends!

  5. This problem has been ongoing for the last 8 years. I am glad that someone has stepped up and brought this to the attention of other snowmobliers. This has occured numerous time both in front of me and to me. PLEASE SOMEBODY SPEAK UP MORE BEFORE MORE PEOPLE GET HURT. I ride Monday thru Thursday with my family and friends never will you see me on the trial Fri-Sun that is sad because most families come up on weekends. Lew Mazz(PA) 20 years plus at Adirondacks!

    1. These people have NO regard for their own lives let alone caring for innocent people some with children trying to have fun. They run at high speeds bumper to bumper, I guess they are afraid they might loose each other. They run snowmobiles off the trail as they pass in a cloud of fumes & spitting snow. Sleds that come toward you at high rates of speed also run people off the trail because they slide through the turns. I think there should be more police on the trails instead of sitting in town watching & waiting for a ski to hit a side walk. I have not seen one police snowmobile this year. Hope they realize the need to catch these guys!

    3. Amen 1:57. They most likely will be wearing there fancy shirts and hats talking the one that got away. Duh. It would be real nice to see some positive stuff being done to promote a much safer sport. Doing 140 is just nuts. I agree nobody cares anymore but the mohawk wearing crowd and the guys with (they think) there sleds with a can is so much faster than everyone elses. Just louder! Nothing else.

Even North Street has turned into a drag strip.

  8. if you want to fly around do it o9n the lakes not the trails people go so fast it is impossible to stay on your side. a very dangerous situation. go to the lakes do 150 if you can & i hope you loose a bogie wheel lock up the track flip off & injure nobody but yourself. speed kills especially in the trails. ride fast enough to be in control or stay home in jersey

    1. Please stop with the Jersey stuff! After standing behind the counter, here at the motel, for over 20 years. I can say that the people in question come from all over, not just Jersey.

  9. Speaking of police presence, why do we never see DWI checkpoints on the trails? I am sure you have all seen people who can hardly walk, get up from the bar, stagger to their sled and ride away.

I know it is bad for the local bar biz, but hey, what % of the deaths on these trails are alcohol related?

    1. Does anyone know the fine or punishment for DUI or speeding on a sled? Does it apply to your drivers license & what about out of state people? I guess they think catch me if you can!

    2. Ummm......its the same as driving ANY vehicle. You get locked up if you are dui.
I would say 80% of people dont even ride. They go from the motel to the bar and sit there all day and night. Look at all the parking lots. They are filled. Whats the point on going to OF if you are just riding to the freeking bar? Bunch of losers.

  10. Great post for the day. It's not just their lives they are taking a chance with, it's someone else love one. Unfortunately, I have been aquainted to most of the snowmobile deaths this year. Ride, safe so you ride another year....

  11. Yeah I hope the Ricky Rocket thumbs stay on the lake and not on the trails. Better enforcement of safe riding practices and courtesy would be a great help.

  13. i was up there 2 weeks ago and saw cops on Uncas rd and i heard they were on Big Moose rd too. Plus on the Moose river plans trail.

  14. I was up over the weekend and there were cops on Uncas Road and Rondaxe Road checking registrations and doing radar on the roads. The cops are around but they can not be every where. You people want more cops but will complain when the trail permits go up. The sport cost enough as it is. The answer is not more cops. People just need to use their head. Also most of the DUI accidents occur late nite and they only hurt themselves which is a good thing. Accidents during the day are from careless driving or just a plain accident. Ride safe and enjoy the sport before the government takes that away like everything else because people complain. Communist here we come
