Pictures don't lie.........

I didn't delete some of the posts from yesterday, that would of been other days.  Why?  Because I wanted to show everyone, that didn't travel north this weekend, what these posts where talking about.  You'll be shocked what you see.  I would say some of the trails are showing signs of heavy traffic, as there is alot of people in town this weekend.  As for mid weeks weather, I'm not sure what it's going to bring us.  Let's just hope it isn't like the last warm up.  But one thing that is in our favor, is the trails have an ice base to them now.

Today's Video for........

    1. Steve takes complaints about the weather/groomers as a personal insult? Who hold him responsible for weather/groomers? You seem manic.

Big Pic-this site fills his hotel.
Every post good or bad gets him incrementally to this goal.

Your complaining about complaining? (and I'm complaining about complaining about complaining :))

  7. Too many complainers.
Groomers are out every day it's possible in OF, and all night long.
Rather than clutter these boards with your negative comments, why don't you go ride the hill with the rest of the throttle jockeys.
    just sayin'

  9. Police say it happened on carter road in the town of webb at 3:30 am.The man was 44 from west babylon. He was riding at a high rate of speed when he missed a trail entrance. His sled hit a snow bank and went airborne into a tree. He was dead at the scene.

  10. OMG!!! Why are there so many sensitive people on here. Whats the matter? Nobody can share their comments without offending people that think old forge is great? This blog is not just for positive comments. It should be for ALL comments that have to do with the trail conditions. Its not the posters fault that the conditions are terrible at old forge. I wish the conditions were good but even when the town says they are, they arent. Very little snow again this year means bad trail conditions. I dont care what anyone says. Conditions will not improve until we get at least a good foot of snow. Until then, enjoy the bumps.

  11. I've been watching Steve's videos for a couple weeks now in anticipation of my vacation to Old Forge this coming weekend, hoping the conditions would be good and the weather would cooperate. But the truth is that in light of all these blog posts, I think people are missing the last five seconds of every single video Steve posts! I don’t know about everyone else but I’m sure glad I have the chance to go up, even if it is once a year, and even if there are some bumps and rough spots. For as Steve always says, “A bad day of snowmobiling is better than any day at work!” Enjoy what life gives you! Drive to a new restaurant that you and your crew have always wanted to go to! Support the local shops in the town! Enjoy your vacation!!!!!! Thanks Steve for everything! –Juliana

  12. I have been going up there for well over 30 years and I can tell you that compared to years ago, OF has made a 180 degree turnaround. I remember when you were lucky to see the groomers. There were times that the groomers were only out on Monday nights and maybe a 1 or 2 times during the week, and they would not do the whole trail system. They never did the weekends or holidays to keep the speeds down during the busy days. Now, at least they are out everyday. When there is ample snow, the groomers keep it nice all week. The town cannot control how much snow falls. If you notice, there is less and less every year. It use to snow everyday. And to the guy who blamed Jersey people for bitching, better include the weekend warriors that come up from NYC. Anyway, OF still beats Tug Hill. I have seen moguls there that would swallow a sled whole! OF is not Canada as far as conditions go but for a family snowmobile vacation spot, it can't be beat.

  14. And Steve,
Even though I don't stay at Christy's, ( I stay at a friends camp), I follow your website and the town webcams all year long on a daily basis. And I think I can speak for most people in saying that you do one helluva job. And to those who think he is doing it for personal gain, so what? Do you see any other establishment making an effort to promote the town like him?

    1. (I'm the poster from 2:02 above complaining about complaining about complaining)

      Agree 100% with above poster.

Steve is like a professional wrestler. Does it matter good guy or the bad guy? As long as he is in ring.

You can also call Glenmore. Owner is a real person, tells you if its worth coming up.

  15. Awesome 3 days of riding. Yes some rocks, chattering of the carbides, some bumps (trail 1 and the logging area on trail 2 was the only place that i thought was not good). Roads were good, lakes were awesome. All in all its always a great time in OF!!!!!

  16. Well all I have to say is I took my wife to OF for her very first ride ever and she can't wait to go back. Yes some of the trails weren't pristine but with the amount of sleds around this weekend I really couldn't have asked for more. While we were out Friday and Saturday we ran into the groomers 4 times. The only trail that was really the worst with whoops was trail 10. Thanks Steve for the reports here, you kept my hopes up last week for our trip up this past weekend it all worked out.

  17. We were up in OF this weekend with family and friends. Rode down to White Lake Inn Saturday to avoid heavy traffic and trails were overall good. Some places thin, some rocks but if ride with caution no problem...it was a good ride. The only trouble was the RR bridge, sleds not with our group were stuck in the rails (one on way, one on way back) at the entrance to bridge...guys helped and we were on our way. Sunday rode around inner trails then out trail 5, yes was snirt in areas but not too bad at all considering, passed groomer each way doing what they can so what more can you ask? We dropped down on 4th lake at Daikers to Inlet...visited Screaming Eagle for their awesome nachos for lunch and back to OF inner trails. Some people in our group rode more going out to Raquette Lake, etc. So overall, we had good weekend of riding. Just need to get passed the warm-up and hope for more snow for next weekend!
