It's adding up........

Well we got it, as I am sure you have seen.  Another nice round of  snow that has added to the base and improved the riding conditions.  I'd put the total around a foot to a foot and a half.  I can tell you this, it took me three and a half hours to do the plowing and snow blowing this morning.  The snow piles are now larger than I think they where at any point last year.

Here's Todays Video for......

  4. This Oldforge sanding the roads is BS, i could understand some down the middle how ever the plow driver must get a commission on how many tons of sand he spreads. With out snowmobilers local business suffers in the winter. But you and I both know the person/persons makeing the decisions dont care about snowmobilers or it would not be this way. Main roads we all understand, back and side roads keep your welfare as. at home on snowey days, Have any of you been to Yellowstone Dont see any sand there. Its been this way for at least 15yrs in OF now and its not going to change. So when planning a ride or motel choose the nearest one to the trail

    1. I second your post. South shore rd should just be taken off the trail map as a rideable rd. They sand it as if snowmobiles dont exist. Maybe the town super owns stock in hyfax. I wont even take south shore rd anymore.lucky i have a camp in hollywood hills. Best thing to do is to appeal to the business owners and tell them that it effects our desire to go to any place that requires road riding.

  6. Donny Rhodes mentality is what gives us sledders a bad name, guys like this roll into town with there 50,000 dollar suv, towing a 10,000 dollar enclosed trailer and then unload 20,000 worth of new sleds, blipping the throttle through town at midnight, could care less if he is riding on snow or bare road as long as everyone that passes buy thinks he is hardcore.when in all reality he is a jack a#$ that has more money than brains, and will just buy a new sled next year anyway.... we all know the kind

    3. Most of you on here are people who have became snowmobilers or just started riding in old forge in the past 5-10 years...old forge has change alot compare to what it used to be not saying all change is bad but lately there has been many guys with the same mentality as Donny Rhodes..it doesnt matter what year ur sled isor how much money you have but these type of people often have a lack of respect for the trails or other riders..once again not saying all but most

I been Riding Oldforge since they use to groom with a Matress behind a SnoJet. Bought our First House in 1986 and now rent multiple houses in town to Alot of New Jersey Snowmobilers and thanks to them for supporting the town and making those long rides for 3 day weekends.....

612 miles logged for the season

  9. i ride up in old forge about 15 days yearly. Not 1 day have i ever complained about roads being plowed. There are people driving cars with children in them. How can everyone be so selfish and ignorant????? Stop bitching about safety. Stay off the roads... Ride the trails.Roads are for cars, trails are for sleds. How stupid are you people. Put your kids on a school bus up bigmoose rd and drive down with them. If you ask me SALT all the roads. Leave stillwater alone, as there is primary sled traffic.

  15. Either your to busy plowing all the snow or your mad at these people being negative on your blog here. But I'm in need of some move video of current conditions. Trying to plan a trip from NC back to my favorite winter wonderland spot. People this isn't a spot to complain !!!

  16. Can we please all start using the blog the way its meant to be used. Post trail conditions and suggested trips and trails to avoid. Enough about the roads, been complaining since the blog started. Call the town and voice your opinion, putting it on here does nothing to address the problem, only causes useless bickering. Love ya all. Ill be up later in the week and i'll put videos on you tube and put up the link for you to see them.

That's why we have a blog.. They read this.. Really.!

Does that accomplish anything positive..? Thanks . but.. . That is another issue.

Just left Motel.. After 4 days of fun .. And 7 hr. (usually Four hr) drive.Back.
      In a nice storm...
      . Catskill area got slammed.
.. They used to have a thriving snowmobiling community.. Too.. back in the day... Then...

  20. way to go a-holes......thanks for pissing off steve and ruining the updates for all of us......

    the town sucks
my mommy didn't breast feed me
    they salted the roads
global warming has halted fresh snow fall

how about we all get along and make the best of every situation no matter what it is......we complain about politians not being get anything done but snowmobilers take the freakin cake.

i love coming to old forge twice a season to ride and hit the bars and restaurants. i am glad they do well but more importantly my buddies and i have a great time even when the trails and roads are not that great to ride on.....as steve says.....a bad day snowmobiling is better than anyday at work!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I simply don't get it, do you complainers ride the roads all day? they are meant to get to and from the trail system, you are lucky they allow snowmobiles on them in the first place.Suck it up and be thankful for what we have instead of complainng about how it shold be. The only wear to you precious sled no ,atter what type or year will be minimal wear on the ski's & carbides and some wear on the Hyfax need I remind you these are regular maintenence items? Take a deep breath and be glad we have snow to ride,

  22. Steve, I'm concerned about you. Are you OK? It's not like you to go so many days without a post or a video from one of the folks who take your camera out. Hope everything is OK and we hear from you soon. We are planning to be up the week of Jan 8 for a Monday through Thursday ride and back home on Friday. Sorry we cannot stay with you, but you know why. Happy New Year!!
