Road Conditions

I started this blog as a place for everyone to find out what the weather and riding conditions are like and to highlight events going on in the area during other seasons of the year. Not a place for people to come and complain about the roads, call others names and things like that. The biggest thing that has been against us this winter is Old Man Winter himself. It wasn't that many years ago when I would wake up in the morning and wonder how long it was going to take me to do the plowing. The last few years, it's been more of, I wonder if I'll even have to plow, and most mornings I haven't. The winters aren't what they where from just a few years ago and this is true for the entire Northeast. This winter I would guess that there is very little, if any, frost in the ground. So how would you expect snow to stay frozen on a roadway when the temperature is right around freezing and the sun is out. There are so many things that have an effect on the road conditions, that I'm not even going to get into it. If you have a problem with how the roads are maintained please call either the Highway Superintendent at 315-369-3412 or the Town of Webb Supervisor at 315-369-3121. From this point on if you post on here and complain about the roads, I will delete it and refer you back to this posting.

  4. Amen, Steve. It's time to stop using this blog for other than trail and weather conditions. And of course to promote events. I'm tired of the complaining and the the pink SeaDoo thing the other week. You do far too much for all of us for some to abuse the blog privilege you give us.
Thanks for all you do. I appreciate all the information and the videos. Jenny Keiper

  6. Most Old Forge snowmobile riders are also boat owners. Sorry to say that your town exists because of tourists. Please behave accordingly. Thanks. Kendra.

  7. Steve,
Thank you for your daily reporting and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this blog / website. I have not made it up to old forge this year and at this point don't think its in going to Happen. I look at your report every day and respect your time + effort to keep us up to date with an honest report of the actual conditions. Thank you

  8. Steve,
Thank you for all your work. I read your blog daily. I live in syracuse and have put in 0 miles locally. I haven't had a chance to get up there much this winter but have managed 110 miles on a sunday in January. I also had the rare privilege of breaking trail 10 after close to a foot of snow fell. Don't stop what you do please.. those of us that actually appreciate your blogs wouldn't know what to do !! Thanks again for all the hard work !! Steve C. from no snow Syracuse.
