Old Forge, Ny Trail Report

The warmth of yesterday is gone, everything is freezing back down and all we need now is a little snow on top of the ice base.  Yes a foot would be nice, but with the way this winter has gone so far a few inches will do.  Would a few inches make it perfect...no.  But at least we'll be able to ride again.

Today's Video..........

  1. We had a great three days planned, I wish I could have a little chat with 'old man winter'!!!!!!!!!
Hope some snow comes, since this weekend is a bust, maybe with the cold temps coming in the next two weeks (accuweather blog says so!) hopefully we can come up soon. :(

  3. WA WA WA what about last winter dummy.this has happen for years.

  4. looks like ice road truckers out there. I guess its better than a pile of mud like we had last week. Maybe old forge will start allowing quads. It might keep the town from gouing under. The way things are gouing with global warming, they will probally stop producing sleds within the next 10 yrs. This will be considered great conditions.

  7. After the last 5 years, I am seriously considering changing to boating instead. I love to ride my snowmobiles but this winter is tough to take. I hope it changes soon.

  8. How bad do you people want to ride? You can go to other place's there is SNOW west from here. I now it sucks for Old Forge but just complaining about it is not getting you on your sled. You just may have to travel to ride. We have good years and bad years, hang in there PLEASE !!!!!!!!!

  15. can anyone tell me what are slides? Every time I bring my sled to schuellers i get nailed for carbides and slides. I asked alot of people about slides and they look at me like i have 3 heads. I just pay it when they hand me a bill. I asked schueller him self and still didnt really get a straight answer. Maybe its time to go back to trailering. Never went thru 3 sets of carbides every year.

    1. slides, they are they things in the water park next to schuellers,he charges you for them, your getting ripped off

    2. lol lol lol cant help it

    3. slides the plastic type runners right on the tunnel of your sled between the track and the metal.....These must have snow on them or they heat up and wear out,,,thats why riding on ice with no snow is a bad bad idea not to mention overheating

      Delete
    4. From past experience with Schuellers, maybe you should try to change your own slides and carbides. It's not difficult, and you won't get ripped off like I did.

    5. thanks for your answers. I figured i was being ripped off. Lost a costomer.

  27. TOW is just a great deal.

I did the Quebec trip 5 years ago. The snow was deep, we were on top of 6 foot fences. It was like $5k. That buys alot of fun in TOW if you just go bar to bar with a few day trips here and there.

  29. What has this turned into? Is it a dating site or a snowmobile site? Let's talk about snow please. If you want to try a dating site then go somewhere else. Steve puts this up for a reason not to hear your bs. Thanks.

    2. Better to not say anything knocking others or places and just be happy with your choice. This is a response one would expect from a much younger and less experienced person....

  41. Hey big boy from Colebrook NH, do you go broke back mountain up there? Because usually guys with keyboard cowboy disease are best left not typing anything at all. Don't knock our area, but feel free to write again if you can be positive..

  45. I really hope the state and town can work together to open trails for quads someday... Not being able to ride my new sled is pissing me off. I seriously hope this is El Nino and not global warming.... *SIGH*

    1. I'd agree, but only for use during the the time when snowmobiles trails are closed. It would bring in a lot more revenue for the area.

  47. My family and I love the Inlet and Old Forge area. The people are nice, respectful and the area, in my opinion, is one of the best places in the world. People are friendly and the scenery on the trails, roads and lakes is second to none.

Thanks Steve for all of your efforts here.
