Old Forge, NY Trail Report 2-11-12

I had Brad drop me an email and here is what he had to say about the plains:

We are up from rochester and rode the plains on Thursday. Getting up there on trail 5 was a task and they were hauling snow into the fx matts trail behind the ole barn. Once we got up into the plains it was pretty good. We rode all the way to the ranger station and then turned around. The indian lake side of the plains was smother than the inlet side but it all had good coverage and was in good shape with a few bare spots closer to the inlet side.

Everyone took off this morning and only two rooms have come back. I think they only came back to grab some lunch, as they headed back out again. There is snow in the forecast over the next few days. But like always who knows for sure what we'll get till it's on the ground, last night we got a dusting.

Here's today's Video for........

  1. Way to go Steve! This is by far your best video of the season! Life is short, and Spring will be here before we know it. For all the negative people out there, why are you even bothering to post on this blog so much? Steve is working his @Ss off trying to report for us, and this takes a ton of time. If you don't have anything good to say...don't say it at all. Remember what our mothers told us.

  2. Just got back from a week in caribou Maine. Long drive from Rochester ny, about 13 hrs. But all I can say is awesome. 20+" and groomed flat trails. Gotta go way north. No passport to go to cananda. Still not giving up hope to visit Steve this year. He rocks!!!

  4. Great post, Steve. We are leaving Monday morning for Old Forge. Will stop by.
Wish we could stay with you. Is there enough snow to keep the groomers out? Or are we just riding on what we got? I hope it snows lots between now and Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm snow dancing every day. Jenny (and Fred).

  6. WOW!!!! A dusting. Its gouing to take alot more than a DUSTING to get these trails "in good shape" maybe a foot. Then we can say good conditions. As of now, fair to poor with bare spots. Stay off trail 5, Heard shot gun DAN is on the loose.

  7. We had a great time this last weekend in Old Forge. A couple of the guys that came along with our group were skeptical but once they got out on the trails, they were pleasantly surprised how much coverage there is out there. Perfect? no, not at all...but we had fun time riding.
