Old Forge, Ny Snow Report

Jamie and I went out riding last night and we had good conditions. Today it can't even be called poor, in my book.  Is it over for the season, as some people have talked?  I would say no,  we have a long time before Old Man Winter gives up his hold on the north country.  I just wish he would drink some Ensure and get some mussel back in his grip.  These roller coaster weather patterns are getting to everyone. Forecast is calling for temps to drop and all we will need is a little snow on top after everything is frozen back down.

Update: 5:30pm Temp has dropped to 32. Let the freezing begin.

Let me clear up some misunderstandings about my report for today.  We did not lose the base on the trails.  The base we have is solid ice from all of the freeze and thaws that we have had this winter.  The snow on top of the base took a beating from the R last night.  Things are starting to freeze back down at 6pm as the temp has dropped below freezing and all we'll need is some snow on top of the base to be able to ride again. Will it be perfect conditions?  Who knows, but at least it will be something to ride on, most areas have nothing.

Here's Today's Video......

    1. 3.44 is an example why it's not cool to ride so fast that you can't keep it right. Wrong side of the trail in a blind corner due to speed and/or ability = lucky!

  5. Trails need to refreeze and we need more snow. Trails are not rideable, take a look at the oldforgeny.com web cams.

  12. I don't get it guys??? Things change overnight. A snowmobile enthusiast....out of all people, should know that is ok to bet against the house.....but you don't do it with a bunch of negativity. After tomorrow's video is posted, why doesn't everyone try to say at least one thing positive? I'm noticing a trend here, with the overall attitudes of the modern day riders: The technology spoiled most of you, and you are forgetting the days when it would be a rare sight to even see a groomer on a trail, let alone get a daily report and video. Suck it up. There is snow, there will be more, say something good for once, and if anything, show Steve some love for all he's done for us over the years.

  13. Steve Thank you for doing such a great job! Giving us the bad and the good. Its great to know that when even you suffer greatly from it you still tell it like it is. thank you again. Nancy Lockwood

  20. I hope it snows, my 14000,00 snowmobile needs a good cleaning out. i'm thinking about putting wheels under it so I can use it more then twice a year. forge should have plenty of snow this year, but maybe not. the snowdeo should be pretty fun this year , if it snows.
