Old Forge, Ny Trail Report

First thing that I would like everyone to note is the temp from the wunderground.com site is incorrect. I have emailed them three time now about it and they haven't fixed the problem yet or told me what to do to fix it. I have had a feed going to them for years and a few weeks ago it stopped reporting the correct temp.

OK for the report, everything has been great up until the warmth of today and it is making the trails soft. Let's cross our fingers that the forecast is correct and this will be short lived and the temp. will drop back down tomorrow night. On the second video, advance it to about 1 minute 30 seconds and play it from there, you can see how the RR tracks looked yesterday. Make sure you look at the end of the second video and see what not to do when riding the RR tracks.

Update:  It's 10:30 pm and I just got back from a ride to Stillwater.  Overall I'd give the trails a good rating with a few fairs and found them to be in better shape than I thought they would be.  There are a few corners that could use some snow on the inside, but what else is new.  Groomers are out doing their thing and the temp was holding right around 35 to 37 in the woods.

Update: Wed. 8:30am   This weather _____ ! ! You fill in the blank with as many words as you would like.

Today we have two videos..The Trail Report and Ditch "N" Joe

    1. That's the Highway Dept hauling in snow to make a snow road across the parking lot so the sleds don't chew it up.

    1. Under normal conditions you would be correct. The snow was not flowing off of the drags, it was balling because it was so wet. The main thing they where doing last night was knocking off the tops of moguls so they didn't freeze in that way after the R today.

    1. Casey is in bed (literally)with the people at the Ski Doo dealer in Old Forge. Have seen him in there laughing with the owners about all the sand he puts down. And the dealer laughing about all the carbides they sell.

    2. Hey Anonymous,

Just because you feel Casey is doing you an injustice, does not give you the right to post these comments. If you have a problem with the job Casey is doing or axe to grind please take it up with him or the town board. This is not the place to do it.
