2-26-2011 Old Forge Trail Report

It's 4:30 as I am writing and the temp is 21 yesterday it was 20 at this time. We had snow most of the day today and I'd give it around 4" of new snow. The base in the front yard is back up to the 2' mark again and is hard a rock. I'm starting to see a few people return from their day of riding and they are the ones that left first thing this morning.

In the video I said about last Monday and it was two Mondays ago the we had the short warm up.

Here's todays video.........

  1. Several years ago we were at Stillwater when the plane landed deliverying mail and packages. When he started to leave he could not get traction for takeoff and they had to take a snowblower with blade and groom the area for him. He finally did take off into the wild blue yonder with cheers from all of us watching. Good memories from up your way. Thanks for your keeping us all informed. You do an excellent job of maintaining everything.

  2. Several years ago i was on big moose lake and they had several planes on the ice. They were down by the inn. That was pretty cool to see.

    I have the pic somewhere.

  3. Just got home from a great 3 day trip to OF and Stillwater with my son. Lots of great riding! This will probably be the last trip we make this year, so I'm happy it was so enjoyable!

  6. Jenny, airplanes don't have traction anytime, but we know what you meant. Seems like OF can't catch a good March anymore, Feb. 28th bring on the rain. Was out most of last week and on Thurs. tried lower 5 up to Rondaxe. It was so bad turned around at 4 and went out North St. Come to find out the head of the groomers decided the trails were "good enough" and didn't send them out that day. The trails for the most part were good, but there were plenty of places that needed help. With December being crap and who knows for March its hard to believe they need to save money by not going out. They must like sore feet from shooting holes in them.
